Scottish Power incorrect bills

Hi. Am writing this on behalf of my 88 year old mum, as if I can't understand bills how on earth is she expected to.
She's had SP for several years on a duel fuel bill. Sept.2014 I discovered she'd only received gas bills, which she'd paid by DD. Then was billed for a separate electric one for 6 months. When I read the meter the billed starting point was 7,000 instead of 14,000, as read from her last actual reading!
Contacted SP after an hours wait was eventually passed from one to another and told a new computer billing in January had caused faults, which they'd sort out, I gave them true readings for both energies. No response for 3 weeks. Re phoned 31/10/14 and repeated problem. Told they'd now put in a complaint and would sort this. Still no response. December arrived as a letter acknowledging complaint and 3 bills for gas with differing amounts and different days in this month to collect payments, only one of which rang true as gas payments were up to date, then also 3 bills with differing amounts, differing periods of time and again different collection dates. Took my other half and myself over an hour to work out what she owed. Phoned this week offering payment to be told that the electricity bill on their pc screen, included the gas, totalled £370. When I asked for breakdown they gave £300 electric and £250 gas, well with my maths that adds up to £550, which the lady couldn't understand and asked if I wanted to complain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where do I go next. Email CEO? close down mums DD? will change suppliers once this is all sorted, but are any others better?
Thanks to anyone who offers support here.

Don't close down the DD or they'll put you onto a less favourable variable rate if you are on a fixed one.
This company is totally incompetent. I have had no end of trouble with them. I suggest you take regular meter readings in the meantime. Threaten the Ombudsman but this won't help in the short term as they are slow to act.
If you have the last electricity bill and you take the closing reading on that, you should be able to work out how much is owed.
They are so bad, I have to check everything on a spreadsheet as they make numerous errors.Je suis sabot...0
