Gatwick Hotels.

For our flight in march we are thinking of changing from our usual routine of getting up in the middle of the night and driving down to Gatwick and instead staying at one of the airport hotels which appear to be minutes from the North terminal. perhaps those of you who have stayed at any of these hotels can help with your opinions or recommend a particular hotel. many thanks in advance.

  • Premier Inn North terminal. It is fantastic, and a minute walk from the terminal. Even if you fly from the south this hotel is still the best, as it's only a couple of minutes walk from the free shuttle to the south.

In June we used this premier inn (different to the one posted above)

We did the sleep/park/ fly offer.

Myself, DP and our 2 girls. We had one double bed, 2 singles and it was still a spacious room.

I liked the hassle of not worrying I hadn't locked up the house properly in the middle of the night as I had lots of time to get ready before leaving for the airport the afternoon before hand.

Crawley is a town not too far away and we went there for dinner after check in and had an early night.

I will definitely be doing this for all early flights we take now.

I always stay at the Courtyard By Marriot and walk to the terminal from there. I usually pay about £85 a night which I realise isn't cheap, but I use it as an extension of my holiday.

If The Hilton is cheap enough I stay there as an alternative on occasions.

  • The premier inn on site is perfect, the parking very convenient. I wouldn't consider anywhere else at gatwick (and I'm a hotel snob!)

Yes, Premier Inn North terminal. Two minutes walk from the terminal (or two minutes walk from the free train to South terminal). Can't beat it for the price!

We have stayed in both the Premier Inn North Terminal and the Courtyard by Marriott both very good but if travelling from the North terminal Premier Inn is definitely first choice as the only other hotel that close to the terminal is the Sofitel which is nearly double the price.

I would highly recommend Premier Inn North Terminal.

If our flight is mid morning or later then we stay at Gatwick Central Travelodge. It's the same quality [imo] as North Terminal Premier Inn and usually quite a bit cheaper. Even factoring in the Hoppa bus it's still cheaper.

But if our flight is one of the first departures, ie before 0700 then for sheer convenience the North Terminal Premier Inn is the best.

For an evening meal and to kill a few hours, we either walk to Horley from Central Travelodge (15 minutes), and have a meal and a couple of drinks at the Jack Fairman Wetherspoons, which is one of the better Wetherspoons.

If we stay at the Premier Inn, then we jump on train from South Terminal to Horley. The Jack Fairman is a two minute walk from Horley train station. A return ticket for the the 4 minute journey costs £2.60.

How does it compare with the new-ish Hampton by Hilton, effectively part of North Terminal?

We'll be staying there soon having stayed at several Hampton Inns in the US.

A much better alternative to the bland chain rubbish near the airport. It's hidden in the country lanes and will guarantee a peaceful nights sleep.
