Hi all
For the last couple of months I have considered changing my car. I am currently driving a 3 door mk6 Golf and find it a bit tricky getting our 18 month old son in and out of the car and would like something which is a 5 door and has a bigger boot for the pram.
I saw a nice 2010 Passat CC earlier in the week, took it out for a test drive and was very impressed. I have a cost to change budget of 3k. My 09 Golf only has 45k on it whereas the Passat has 60k but is a 2010 model so younger than the Golf. It fits the bill perfectly with price, practicality and spec.
Would it be a daft thing to do due to the mileage between the them?

I was always told that miles don't matter so much - it is the service history/state of the car that does. You could have a car with 80K on it that has been well looked after and serviced regularly or a car with 40k on it that has been treated horribly and is rough as hell...
What is the history of the passat?
The mk6 golf is a nice car...but like you said it may not be as practical0 -
Has quite possibly been easy miles, sounds a good change to me0

Passat has had 3 VW dealer services at 18k, 28k and 47k. Unfortunately no cam belt change done yet so will have to factor that into the deal.0 -

Cam belt isn't due till 80k I believe. If so that isn't really anything to factor in as you'd need that with many cars.
Seems like a fair change - but is CC suitable for young kids if practicality is an issue? We find the Passat estate is an excellent family car.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
I had a CC.
Lovely car, but very low. Not suitable for bending down to put baby seats or elderly in (dad used to complain getting in it).0 -

What colour was your CC? The Passat im looking at is bronze (its called autumn brown on the VW site). Im still undecided whether I like this colour.0 -
No way would I have a brahn car.
If you want a Passat I agree with jimjames, go for an estate.
I have had estates for about 12 years and they are such useful things.0 -
Mine was black. I think the only colours in 09 were black white or silver. Bronze sounds revolting. Assuming a normal Passat is equipped the same and drives the same, I would veer towards one of these.0
