So if it is not for profit I dont get the point of it then?
  • If all of the money given by the retailers gets paid out for TRO employee wages and other running costs, they wouldn't be making a profit as such but I'm sure that they would still be on a nice little earner.

We’ve updated the news story after putting some of the questions raised in this story to TRO.

The telephone number has been changed to an 03 number, and we’ve also indicated that the funds paid by members are used to run the scheme, which is not-for-profit.

We’ve asked about TRO’s code of conduct and been advised that it will be available on its website, but that at present the download has been taken down while it is updated.

As for the list of retailers already signed up - TRO has declined to confirm any members. Obviously we asked prior to publication of the first version of the story and we've repeated the question since to no avail.

What do you mean by " we've also indicated that the funds paid by members are used to run the scheme, which is not for profit"
Is this your quote or theirs .

So they have listed retailers on their site and now are refusing to confirm they have signed up, despite previously saying they have?
So we can deduce from that , that none of these retailers are actually backing the scheme.
What happened to transparency? Or integrity?
And who's paying the expert staff who have been " trained" ?
    All 37 of them apparently.

    Thank you.

And if the employees with the biggest salaries happen to be the people who own the company ....

    Hmmm.......

If the consumer doesn’t win can they go to court afterwards?
If the consumer agrees to be bound by the decision of the caseworker, they cannot then go to court at a later date

Please read and sign this declaration:
I’d like The Retail Ombudsman (“TRO”) to look into my complaint.
I understand and acknowledge that TRO will need to use personal details about me (including sensitive or personal information) and that TRO may need to share some of this with the retailer that my complaint is about.
I understand and acknowledge that TRO publishes the ombudsman’s final decisions, although most complaints are resolved by TRO caseworker before they reach the ombudsman
I agree to provide true, accurate and full information about my complaint
I agree to be bound by the decision reached by the ombudsman
