BA LHR to Canada

Just wondering if anyone has flown with BA to Toronto recently? We're booked to go in June and there are some horrendous reviews on Seatguru about the flight.
Don't know if we should look at changing and flying with someone else

I assume you're booked in economy? Economy class service doesn't really vary much between airlines - what exactly is so horrific about BA that you've seen on SeatGuru that wouldn't apply to the other airlines too?
Regardless, do you even have the right to cancel the flights? Most discounted economy fares won't give you a refund - you'll just get most of the taxes back.0 -
Yes booked in economy. So shouldn't really expect too much. But one person described the flight as"what you would expect if Ryanair did longhaul".
We flown with Air New Zealand, KLM and Malaysia Air all in economy and all have been good.
We've booked them as part of a package holiday so would only lose our deposit if we cancelled.
Just stupidly panicking, it's only 7 and a bit hours.0 -
Don't Seatguru reviews cover the airline and plane type and not the route?
While I don't enjoy economy travel I've always been able to switch off enough during the flight to cope.0 -
Yes they do and that's what I've checked. Would you believe its their new fleet that is getting slated the most! The majority of the reviews are complaining about the 3-3-3 configuration, as the same planes with other airlines are 2-3-2. People are also complaining about business class too. May just look at how much it would be to move up to premium economy.0

I was so uncomfortable on a BA flight to Vegas from Heathrow I would rather have been on a Ryanair plane. The air con wasnt working on the 747, it is a common problem on that route
BUT economy is economy you wont get comfort. I have also flown KLM economy longhaul many times and cant say I have ever come off thinking wow that was comfortable.
I now take a seat cushion and noise cancelling headphones on any longhaul flight they both help.
Not much you can do about the config, I assume there are 2 of you travelling and would prefer a pair0 -

People love to moan! 3-3-3 is by no means an unusual combination. Some have 2-4-2 (not 2-3-2) but I think most are 3-3-3.
The seat pitch and width don't look particularly bad for economy, though it isn't great (and I haven't been on the 787 myself). Considering only BA, Air Canada and Air Transat fly that route I don't think you'll get any better elsewhere anyway. Premium economy is much better than economy so if you can get a cheap upgrade it could be worthwhile - but there's only 25 seats so I don't know how feasible that will be (without paying the full upgrade cost).0 -
It seems a common theme on Seatguru that older planes have better seating than modern ones.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

To be honest, the alternatives (Air Transat and Air Canada) are just as variable in quality as BA. I'd personally choose Air Transat as likely to be the best, as (I belive) only 1 of a possible 21 aircraft haven't recently been refurbished.0

Everyone loves to bash BA.
Bottom line is that economy over the Atlantic is much of a muchness. You'll get a seat, a personal TV with a decent amount of films, a meal, a snack, and free drinks. It won't be the most comfortable seat in the sky with the most room but that's economy travel I'm afraid.
Stop worrying it'll be fine. You might even like it (I've heard good things about the 787).0 -
I've experienced 3-3-3 on a B787 and yes it's horrible, change to a different aircraft or go PE if you can.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
