Car lease
My wife leases a car from Suzuki. We just bought her a new car, not a Suzuki. We now want my 17 year old daughter to use the Suzuki but the insurance price comparisons wont respond with a quote as the registered keeper is still my wife. Can we transfer the registered keeper? Is there an insurance company that will quote (bearing in mind the cost is already crazy)? Or does my wife need to insure the Suzuki as well as her new car and name my daughter as a driver? Or am I just in the mire?

might find in the lease it must be lease holder who must be insured.. is the daughter to use the car all the time?
can you give the car back and get daughter her own car0 -
Get your daughter something cheap for the first year or 10 months if you use a bonus accelerator type of insurance.
Lease company may now allow a name change, If insured under your wifes name dont forget that she wont be able to use her no claims on 2 policies.
Also if the daughter has any incidents it goes against your wifes no claims.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Are you sure you are the registered keeper? With many leases the finance company remains the registered keeper.
Occasionally, for reasons I dont know, there can be funny issues with websites and registered keepers/ owners and their relationship to the Policyholder which dont exist when you speak to the same companies over the phone.
Do a quote with your daughter as the keeper to get the list of insurers in price order. Then test each of these in turn correcting the keeper once you get through to their own website. If it rejects it or jumps up stupidly then give them a call and see what they will do over the phone.
When I was trying to decide if to lease or PCP my new car most insurers declined when I put the finance company was the owner and keeper but the first two I phoned both were happy with the situation when I spoke to them on the phone and didnt amend the premiums at all.0 -
Just had the same problem/similar one.
Admiral Multi car only don't ask about registered owner etc I had to raise it with them. They said it did not matter .You could get both cars insured by them .
Otherwise Allianz and a coupe of others came up on search engines that caused no problems in this respect

I doubt it without the owner's (lease company) consent. No doubt the lease agreement will have it in the T & C's somewhere.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
I lease a Mercedes Benz. I am the "registered Keeper" as i have a V5 for the car, and the leasing company is the "legal Owner". Looking through my docs, ANYONE can drive my car as long as they are fully comp on the vehicle, so in the event of a total loss, my finance company would still have a car.
Plus, having your daughter use the car mainly but as a named driver on someone else's policy is called fronting.0
