Prolite Energy Systems

Options
Hi
I am trying to trace a current phone number for the above company.
They installed my solar panels 4 years ago and I have had no problems until today when I checked my display unit that shows me how many units my system has generated only to find that it has stopped working.
It just has a continuous red light instead of a flashing red light.
The company is based in Romford Essex and I have tried all the phone numbers I can find and the web page is just blank when you click on it.
Does anyone have any local knowledge of this company? Has it gone bust?
If so, does anybody have any advice on how I can get my system up and running again? Thanks in advance for any help!

Without knowing the specifics of your system I can only suggest what we did to fix ours a couple of years ago.

Just like a computer, do a reboot!

Turn it off at the mains so no power to inverter. Leave for at least 30 mins possibly longer and then turn back on.

With ours it reset the system and started working again. I tried it initially just doing the off/on routine and that didn't solve it, the complete power down was needed.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • Possibly the system somehow got confused with the year-change. I second the reboot suggestion.

  • Thanks for both your replies. I'm going to turn the power off now and see what happens. I think I will leave it off for an hour and then try it.
Will get back to you in a bit!

If no joy then I think any reputable solar company would be able to assist - maybe post requesting any suggestions from members here who have had installations in your area.

  • Well, rebooting didn't work for my system unfortunately!
So tomorrow I will phone a couple of local solar companies to see if they can help sort it.
My inverter is completely dead - no lights or anything. In the instruction manual it says that there should be a red light if there is a problem and the reason for the fault should be displayed in the little box on the unit but the whole thing is just dead.
Thank goodness this has happened in the winter and not the height of summer!
  • Just a quick update!

I managed to find a local solar installer who came round to look at the inverter and found that it had failed. Luckily, it was guaranteed for 5 years and it was only 4 years old.

So he helped me to get in touch with the company (originally Chinese, but had been taken over by a German company in the last 4 years) and make an online claim for a replacement inverter. I had a new inverter sent out to me within a week and it was installed today.

Very happy with the inverter company (Zeversolar) and the local installer.

Maybe mention on here the installers who helped?

As more people get installs, things will start to fail so it might be useful to others to know who the good guys are?

Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.
  • Hi,
My father has the same problem with Prolite and the inverter breaking down. Prolite are in liquidation and apparently all guarantees are useless. My father had an engineer come round and said the inverter is faulty. Again, it is 4 years old and they are going to get a replacement for him under the warranty. Apparently they can download the information from the inverter and it will tell the manufacturer whether it is their fault. When the replacement arrives it will cost my father £200 for them to install it. He has already paid £100 for the initial call out. Can you tell me if you paid about the same price please?
    Regards,
    June.
  • Hi....my Prolite system was installed in 2012 and has now stopped generating electricity. I cannot even find the invertor to check if it is functioning and I've approached several companies to visit to investigate and repair the system, but no-one is interested it seems if it is not their own system and installation. I live near Barnet in N London. Does anyone have any suggestions or firms they can suggest I try?

    Hi

If you can't easily find it, it's probably in the loft!. When it's light, have a look and see if there are any lights or displays indicating an error code, particularly something like 'awaiting grid connection", which could mean something simple like a tripped switch on the CU.

I'm surprised that you don't know where the inverter is considering that the installer should have provided an basic system overview (training for safety etc) upon commissioning along with a schematic as part of their MCS requirements ... have you moved into the property since commissioning ?
