cash advance vs balance transfer barclaycard

I currently have about 4k on a mbna credit card. I will be able to pay this off in the next few months once my divorce settlement is finalised. In the meantime I want to transfer the balance to my Barclaycard. They are offering me 0% on balance transfers til June 2016 with a 3·9% fee or cash transfer to my bank until Oct 2015 with 1·9% fee.
Is there any difference between cash and balance transfers? As I only need a short term it looks like the cash advance would be the cheapest way to do it. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

No.. just go for the shorter one if that's all you need. It's actually a "money tranfer" in the lingo people use around here. They will send the money to your current account. If it's going to a non-Barclays account there may be some extra security. You can then use it to pay MBNA.

Cash advances (eg at an ATM) can be reported to CRAs and with other factors could be negative. I doubt whether money transfers would be reported in the same way, though others might know better.

My original transfer fee was 1.9 for nine months but got them to let me have the £2,500 for £15 and payable back in August 2015.
