yes was very happy:j - after coming home yesterday to the tax letter that I thought said I owed them I was filled with dread when I came in today to another one!!! You can imagine my surprise when it was a cheque!!!! I nearly fell over!!!

Just need to decide whether to pay it off the OD or pay towards a CC - the problem with the OD is its a habit to use it so I would need to increase my will power and not dip back into it or get rid of it completely. I guess I could stash it in an emergency fund too! Decisions decisions!!!

AHHH DD3 has just dropped her tablet - broken screen!!!!
  • Yay for tax refund.

Why would do anything other than standard DFW mantra... pay the money off the debt which is costing you the most to service... so either the highest interest rate or the one that's closest to not being interest free if you have them all on 0%

As it's free money, use it all for debts :) xxx

    (Eeek I am bossier than & aren't I. Sorry!)

Haha oh dear I have two of you nagging me now!!!!

After this month I will have all of my debt (except the loan) on 0% for 14 months - the Smile OD is £500 and I use the smile account for all spends except DD's and Debts - they come out of my NW account. The Smile OD is my buffer/emergency fund so If I paid it off it would be tempting to dip into it again so I guess its safer to pay it off the CC.

I was just trying to forward think about making myself as attractive as possible to re mortgage as I read banks looked at you more favourably if you are not using an OD for 3 months before applying.

    Hey Judi
Bit of a cheek, but you were kind enough to drop by at mine and I've been thinking about what I do when anyone says no. Surprise surprise, I say why not.... thinking you may possibly maybe perhaps do what I do and kick off a bit if ppl nag. Possibly maybe & broomstick necessary? Just saying cos I realise OH `told`me some time ago not to put on weight.200lb and counting. Down now, but was up for a while...

Well yesterday was not a NSD - so still at 4 - I had a last minute invitation for a catch up with a friend - I know I could have said no - but I didn't and had a great night - spent £20 in total for dinner and a couple of drinks and had a good old chinwag! I have a budget for entertainment so the £20 - although not planned - will come from that.

Quiet day of house pottering and Doodle walking later so spends will be minimal (maybe an Ice cream for kids) . I need to do next weeks menu plan and shopping list as well today but shopping should be minimal (estimating £30) and we need bunny food for DD3's bunnies so (£15 for a 10 kg bag which will last at least a month)

The tax rebate is going to come off the CC so once the cheque has cleared it will be winging its way to the NW card. I have no doubt that a few short months ago I wouldn't hesitate to spend the whole lot - seeing it a 'free' money but not any more!

I was thinking the other day about how far I had come and how my view of money has changed. I now love simple things not just spending money for spending's sake! I know it due to the support and gentle nagging (and the odd broom swishing;)) I get from people on here!

And yes I do need to slow down sometimes and set a steady course and stick to it!!! Clearly something I still struggle with!!!!

Dear judi - the day you master ' slow down sometimes and set a steady course and stick to it' will mean we're redundant:-)

I'd add 'can't wait', but of course we CAN wait, because that's what Life's cobblestone path needs. It will become your default mode TLC
    - failsafe. Just keep thinking - how can anything be better from where you were[and have been before]to KNOWING you're on track, feel at ease, have a new sense of safety AND choices.

Even better, these settled, steady habits, bedding in and staying, are being seen, felt, absorbed by your children, with all the 'Can do's and 'Can't this time round's which family Life comprise.

#210's another Good 'Un judi - nsds are for celebrating when they occur, not for berating self when they don't. There is real self-awareness and shift apparent - couldn't be more pleased.
