Dyson Hot + Cool Fan Heater AM05

Options
Hi All,
Anyone using the Dyson Hot + Cool Fan.
Got it recently and it does not seem to heat the room as efficiently.
The sales rep at John Lewis said it takes 10-15 minutes to heat a room.
anyone else using this product?
Any comments would be appreciated.

10-15 minutes to heat a room? Depends on the room really, its size and air leakage/heat loss. What kind of room are you using it in?

Anyway, the ones I've seen output a fairly decent 1.5 kW, so I'd expect it to be doing something in a typical room. They're not special in any way however, they're basically a very expensive fan heater and do nothing that one costing £25 doesn't also do equally well. So, if it's not working you can always ask to return it and buy another? You may find a radiant bar electric fire, or oil filled heater suits you better.

I have got a 5m by 4m living room with 2 radiators and 2 big patio doors. So i got this thinking it will help in boosting the central heating and yet look stylish. I can live with the noise it makes but its not making the room that hot.
I cant change the 2 existing radiators in the living room. External insulation is too expensive. I am stuck as to what to do to make this room warm.
Do you think oil filled radiator would be a better option?

you need to work out where all the warm air you are making is going .

Are there any draughts or cool areas ?

do you have trickle vents open on the doors ? Do they close well ?

you have curtains in front of the Patio doors ?..You could remove them in the summer ..But that wall of glass will not be great insulation ..even double glazed

yes we have them. They are super efficient and warm the whole room in about 5 minutes. Globalds is right, your warm air must be escaping. Ours were not that expensive poppellerant but obviously they have held their value, much better than money in the bank. Is the thermostat high enough yaz?

I have set the thermostat to 37 which is the max temperature and fan speed to 10 which is also the max. I guess because of the large glass area, heat must be escaping from there. I used it in a bedroom with doors and windows closed and it does heat the room, a bit noisy though but it is acceptable.
My main reason of purchase was to used it the living room downstairs. Still wondering whether to keep it or not as it looks very stylish.
