Manchester Airport - 24hr coffee shop anywhere?

Evening all.

We have a flight booked later in the year that departs Manchester at 6am. My in laws will be joining us on the holiday and will be flying into Manchester airport the night before at 23.25. (Giving us 6.5 hours between landing and take off hopefully).

We live an hour away from the airport, so there's really no point in us collecting them and bringing them home only to go straight back to the airport.

We then considered a hotel at the airport but the cheapest option is coming in at £50 for the night and realistically they will only be in the room a couple of hours. (they have luggage and it's two different airlines so in recent experience it's taken us an hour from landing to getting out of the airport and we intend to check in at 3am ish for our 6am flight as we are a biggish group and want to allow plenty of time).

Do you know if there are any 24hour coffee shops in Manchester airport that would be open between midnight and 3am?
They fly into T3 and we fly out of T1.

Thanks
Lea

Thanks. I had looked at the website and noticed that there was a coffee shop in T1 arrivals (I know they arrive into T3 but they'll have enough time to move around) but it didn't give specific times. I have emailed the airport themselves so will see what they come back with but just thought I may get a quicker answer here.

Will there be anybody available to check you in at 3 a.m.? Check in desks often only open 2 hours before departure, and I'd expect that to be particularly so for what is probably one of the first flights of the day, I'd imagine the staff would prefer an extra hour in bed to sitting at a desk at 3 in the morning!

Any lounges you can pay to enter, and wait in there?
  • This post mentions an all night cafe in T2 - http://www.sleepinginairports.net/europe/manchester.htm

Check in opens three hours before departure for our flight. These days it's common practice for them to open three hours before departure and we always aim to get there with plenty of time to avoid any last minute stress.

The lounge in T1 opens at 4am so we decided not to bother with that, and they wouldn't be able to access it anyway until they go through security.

I will take a look at that blog post re T2 thanks.

There's several incoming flights into terminal 2 I think it is (we went to Egypt and on arrival to Manchester stayed in the airport from 3 waiting for the first train). I'm sure it is arrivals terminal 2 we were in and I'm sure it was Starbucks or something of the like that stayed open. Manchester isn't too big either so there could be others too but I'd err more towards trying arrivals for finding places to eat and drink.

  • I worked at Manchester Airport a few years ago and there was a 24 hour coffee shop in T2 arrivals but I'm not sure if it still there. If you do find that one of the terminals has something suitable, T1 and T3 are very close to one another with T2 more of a trek but still reachable.

Thanks guys. I've had another look at hotels and the Premier Inn on runger lane is coming in at £35 for the 'night'. I think we will book in there as we are driving to the airport and can set off and have dinner nearby (any reccomendations?) the night before saving us time in the morning.
For £35 it's probably better for the in-laws to check in too, it's not far from the airport and means they can at least get a few hours sleep / rest. By the time they get to the hotel it's likely to be after midnight and they will need to be up again just before 3 to get back to the airport so won't get long but without it, they will be awake for over 36 hours without sleep and that's not a great way to start the holiday.
