Going to Sri Lanka in Feb and looking for the best prepaid travel card. Going to load it in sterling with about £1000 and plan to use it about 5 times for ATM withdrawls only.
Any advice on best card appreciated.

Kalixa.
You might be able to find a fee discount code with a search engine.
You will get better value for making fewer ATM withdrawals and more purchases.0 -
There's also a kalixa referral scheme - I had a PM from someone asking me to refer them and they got a fiver off the card cost (and I got a free fiver too!). You need to provide your name and email address, then the referrer enters it in the Kalixa site and you get a link with the promotion.
I used Kalixa for Czech Republic and Romania as well as easyjet and BA flights in the UK - it's great there's no monthly fee, and you get the wholesale currency conversion rates on foreign transactions.0 -
Take £50 BOE notes to Sri Lanka you will get very good rate like 202LKR for £1.
Plz dont change money on the airport as you will not get a good rate but do in the market.
Also find a local guide who will show you around and also show where one can get a good rate for the money. What happens if you push this button?0 -
According to MSE's own article, the one below is very good.

Although the exchange rates given may not be quite so good, IIRC.0 -
Not too late to get a Halifax Clarity credit card, if you are able to and want to consider that route, you'll almost certainly get the best exchange rates with it.0

Got a halifax clarity card. Take it the best way is to use the ATM then clear it as soon as appears on statement.0

That's the way to minimise interest, but 'best' is subjective. It would be easier to ensure you have a direct debit in place to pay off the full balance, then you don't have to try and find (secure) internet connection while you're abroad. Interest in the grand scheme of things would be fairly minimal.1971graeme wrote: »Got a halifax clarity card. Take it the best way is to use the ATM then clear it as soon as appears on statement.
But overall, yes Halifax Clarity for purchases and cash withdrawals (make sure they're performed in the local currency)0
