Kitchen face lift needed

We have finally had to admit we need to do something about our kitchen which is getting a bit shabby. We like the layout and wondered about getting new doors for the units. Problem is that the kitchen has the older style larger kick boards and also a couple of specialist units. Would this rule out this option?
Alternative is I suppose to get the new doors custom made? Currently we have white painted Victorian style panelled doors with porcelain knobs. We have 7 single cupboard units (one with drawers) and 6 single (long) wall units plus a wall mounted shelved corner display on one corner and two smaller windowed cupboards over the hob area (with extractor fans underneath them.)
We also have a pull out larder (full length), a combined microwave and oven housing and a built in fridge floor to ceiling unit. I think the work top (beech) is also a bit larger and thicker than standard but assume that could be accommodated. Anyone gone this route and have some idea how much it would cost?

Have you thought about painting the units you have? We remodelled existing dated units (Schreiber horrible red wood) by painting them dove grey and adding a new beech top. We used chalk paint and the whole thing came to £80 (3x tins of paint and 2 tubs of wax) over 2 weekends!0

I fit kitchens for a living. There are a number of issues here. Are the carcasses actually serviceable? If they are starting to deteriorate, you will be throwing good money after bad as sooner or later the carcasses will need replacing. By the time you have replaced worktops, end panels cornice etc, its better value to actually start again.
If the door sizes are standard, they can be replaced relatively inexpensively from the likes of Howdens, Magnets etc. However, if they are non-standard sizes, they can be custom made. I priced a kitchen last year on the basis of providing new custom made doors. It actually turned out more cost effective to by new cabinets and doors.
I know this site is about money saving, but sometimes its not cost effective to make repairs. Sometimes you need to just start again.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
