I'm guessing the first one is a minor update (a year newer) of the second one (still both fifth generation), hence why second one is no longer for sale as it is obsolete.

In terms of the links you posted the one that specifically says "5th Generation" is newer than the other one, just have a look at the release dates yourself.

Edit: Looks like the 6th generation still isn't out yet and I don't think there's an official release date yet although rumours say it's imminent, so yes I'd say the ebay listings are described incorrectly/lying.

One other difference is the 5th gen video ipods have brighter screens than all previous generations, however if you turn the brightness up its starts to eat your battery.

One is probably what it is unofficially called a '5.5'

    From wikpedia:
"The September 2006 revision (often called generation 5.5) featured a brighter display, longer video battery life, and a music search function. The 60GB model was upgraded to 80 GB".

It's easy to recognise the bigger memory model 5.5 because they increased it from 60GB to 80GB but I guess the 30GB looks exactly the same as it's predecessor.
