Money Saving Big Switch EON

Options
Is anyone else having issues with the swap?

We got our welcome e mail on the 4th November and they've only just transferred the Electric so far. We now have 2 separate DD's and are £48 a month worse off until they sort it out.

Not quite what I signed up for.
Have been contacting EON directly but nothing has happened apart from they will do it eventually

If you look back over the last three week's worth of threads, you will find many referring to the CEC Big Switch to EON. My own opinion is that EON were badly caught out by the sheer numbers of switchers -their IT systems were demonstrably not fit for purpose. I started the switch late Oct. and it finally looks as if it is complete. I'm just waiting now for the return of a large credit balance from the previous supplier.
The only good thing about the whole mess,is that EON actually have active reps. on these boards who have been trying their very best to help new customers get over the issues and to explain where the problems are.
Wish some of the other Utility Cos, would be so proactive.

Hi nolsw and welcome to the Forums.

Sorry it's taking so long to sort out your switch.

As brewerdave says, demand for this tariff was greater than expected. Also, as a standalone one off tariff, switches were dealt with manually by a dedicated team rather than going through the usual automated channels. This took longer than usual.

With a change of supplier, it's not unusual for the two fuels to transfer at different times. Electronic messages pass between us/losing supplier/third parties (distributors, national databases etc) until the switch is complete. The messages follow different paths depending on the fuel. Some of the third parties are also different and deal with the changes in their own way.

I suspect the gas will follow the electricity soon. When completed, you'll have a full 12 months on the MSE Collective prices. The Monthly Direct Debit will be combined too.

If you've registered with our website, there's a facility on there that I thought I'd mention. It's the Direct Debit Manager and this will give you more control over the monthly payments. Comes in handy should circumstances change.

Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before putting the change through, we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit if the new amount is confirmed but usage doesn't alter accordingly.

Sorry again for the time it's taking to sort out the switch nolsw but hope this is of interest.

I switched on Nov 22nd. Elec was switched on the 11th of Dec and Gas on the 22nd of Dec. First DD for dual fuel has been taken on he 2nd of Jan. There were several emails and letters, sometimes with conflicting information. I didn't think they were going to get it right. They told me the DD was going to be separate for each fuel. Didn't make sense as I signed up for dual fuel. However giving credit where credit is due, EON has switched it exactly how I wanted. The website is now fully functional (atleast for me) and Npower (my previous supplier) has closed my account. My first DD was for both fuel and all is showing up correctly online.

    Hi Baby Angel

As I'm sure you can see from previous posts/threads we've had a number of issues with recent switches. Quite a few people have had delays because of this so nice to hear from someone where the switch went as requested. Thanks for posting about this.

Monthly Direct Debits are set up individually to start with and then combined once both fuels are live on our system.

As you've registered online and have a Monthly Direct Debit, you might be interested in the Direct Debit Manager I mentioned to nolsw in the post above. Gives you more control over payments and useful should circumstances change.

Thanks again for posting Baby Angel.
