Christmas approaches and now my Mum's stuff has been cleared from my childhood home, I have a very tight deadline for decluttering and getting my house visitor ready for the festivities.
I have lost track on what has gone, but my bin is full, we have a full car of electrical bits (computer bits, wires, chargers, 2 portable tv's etc) to go to the tip tomorrow. The tip run would have happened this afternoon if Hubby had not had a nail flatten his tyre half way down our street - by the time we sorted it out the tip was closed.
The front room and dining room in the last 2 days have been declutterd and sorted - all the furniture has been moved and the rooms have been properly cleaned, hoovered and carpets shampooed.
The spare room has been half emptied (computer stuff for the tip), I am waiting for some storage crates to be emptied at the tip to organize linen and bath towels.. I have some piles of stuff downstairs that are sorted and going upstairs to the spare room (i will have space in the cupboard and desk area for them once the room is cleared and cleaned. I also have several bags of wrapped Christmas pressies on the dining room table that will be stored in the spare room once completed - as they will only need to be stored until Christmas.
Enough for today - time to declutter the wine left from last night!!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
Just remembered I also have collated a stack of instructions for various household items - I put them to one side (having got rid of any we no longer have the goods for). There is a stack of lever arch folders in the spare room the plan is to get some plastic filing wallets and file them an in the put them with the house info in the cupboard under the stairs.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

Today managed to get a very full car to the tip, eventually! and a hideous fiber optic lamp to the charity shop (has already sold subject to electrical testing to a browser!) Hubby would not let me take the lamp to the tip as he said someone would love it! I have conceded and purchased a book case as Hubby will not let any of his books go and there is a space for it - fun and games putting it up, but as a result I have put the large photo frame we got as a wedding pressie in April and the photo i had printed to fit it together and it is now displayed on said book case so put to decorative use and not just stored in the spare room. The spare room has been cleared and cleaned totally - the kitchen has enough stuff in it destined for the tip to fill the car. the towels and linen are all in the linen and not on the spare room floor!
I have discovered i have a spare plastic bin (i was going to buy one for the bathroom) also a new unused shower curtain (ours had been washed so many times it has lost some waterproofing) and oddly enough my spare duvet has completely gone awol - better find that out now than Christmas eve!! and i have also found a large stash of toiletries.
Also the pressies i am supposed to be packing on behalf of the family and sending to cousins family can go round to Dad's at the weekend (will be packed and labeled) as cousin is visiting him next week!! yeah I have been dreading the cost of postage as they will be quite heavy (procrastination has saved me the cost).
Tomorrow hall, stairs, landing and bathroom - really looking forward to that - not!!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
my [STRIKE]old tat [/STRIKE] quality pre-loved items are selling on ebay faster than I can list them. Spending an inordinate amount of time in the Post Office queue (absolutely genius of them to reduce the counters from 3 to 1...) but it's helping me be ruthless...my thought process is now do I need this? Or would I rather have the cash??
Anyhoo...

Nearly had a couple of cases over decluttering!! today's tip run Hubby nearly takes the Christmas decs!! and then i ask him to bag up a load of clothes for the textile bank (clothes in a pile on the floor) and next thing I realize is the empty hangers on the bedroom door!! nearly lost summer dresses plus tomorrow's Christmas party outfit, his defense is they have not been worn for a few months (well no they are summer dresses and it's winter!!). also he thought the steam cleaner was a mini hoover and has never seen it in use so therefore not needed - i demonstrated i did use it even if he has not seen it being used - He is kind of scared of it!!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. Will this thread be continuing into 2016? I'm fed up of looking at things I don't really use so much any more, like CDs when I don't have my stereo set up, DVDs etc.0
