VISA Internet Shopping Gift Card

I have been given one of these for Xmas, value £25
It appears that it can only be used for internet shopping to the face value on the card, and cannot be used for part payment, as no shopping sites will allow payment with two methods or cards. Therefore the item purchased must have (in my case) an exact value of £25, (or less I suppose). Makes them fairly useless as a present I think.

I had a couple of pre-paid card as survey rewards and did what PeacefulWaters suggested - I bought an Amazon gift voucher with it.

This gift card is highly sought after by serious Tesco clubcard collectors, but has disappeared from Tesco after Christmas.

Other ways to use them besides buying Amazon gift vouchers, or items which total exactly £25, include: on sites which accept paypal, load up your paypal account with the exact amount of the item that you want to buy, minus the amount on the card.

Get a friend with a card machine to pay himself, and give you cash minus the fees.

Buy them with a Tesco money off voucher, which works but is not supposed to.

There is another simple way to extract the full value of the card but it is unsuitable for publication on this forum.

I believe the Debenhams website lets you use more than one CC to pay.

Probably the simplest suggestion has already been mentioned - buy a £25 amazon gift card with it.

Alternatively, look for any suitable gift voucher where you might shop (if you're an Iceland shopper, top up your bonus card online and the £25 becomes £26 to spend on your bonus card instore) or look to see if any bills you have allow payment or part-payment by credit card online - I can make a payment towards council tax with a 3% fee or my electricity with a 1.5% fee. If you have a catalogue-style account (Littlewoods, Very etc) then part payment by credit card is allowed, no fees.
