Shares from 1988

im doing some investigation into some stocks my farther in law has and I can't make any sense of them. Can anyone help me with this please.
It's. 2100 shares in associated engineering Plc
They are penny share and were bought for 19p each at the time.

A quick Google tells me here that AE was taken over by Turner & Newall by 1993 and here that Turner & Newall went bust in 2001 due to asbestos claims. However the same link does say that they were taken over by a US company Federal Mogul in the meantime. So perhaps your FIL is the owner of some US shares. I will leave you to chase further but I suggest he doesnt book his world cruise yet.

I would suggest that you paying for an internet connection for him - or driving him to the library and back - would be a good investment if you value your time.

IIRC Federal Mogul went through Chapter 11 in 2008, so who knows where that would lead you/him...
