Passport page torn out. Replacement troubles
buildingblocks
A few years back, my not so clever new boyfriend tore out two pages of his passport containing a visa stamp as he pretended to me that he went travelling to oz for the whole year (its was really 4 months) and for some bizzare reason committed to covering his lies by removing the incriminating stamped page.....
anyhow, fast forward to the more grown up present....He recently applied for a replacement passport, and sent it back stating that the pages were missing. He has now been asked for a written statement requesting details of how the damage occured before they consider issuing a new one_pale
Could someone advise on the seriousness of this? we're due to pay the balance on our family holiday in 2 weeks but im in a panic that once he confesses to damaging it himself and the stupid reason why he did it, they might get funny and refuse him one.
I dont advocate lying but in this instance would it be wise (and easier) to say that it came loose/tore, or our son got hold of it?

Personally I would say child damage and then you tidied it up afterwards. I wouldn't, as an adult, admit to deliberately defacing a passport.0
