Barclays trying to get me to spend and shop

I don't get this from any other bank I'm with, but I'm really getting fed up with Barclays sending me emails on shopping for holidays, holiday insurance and other 'products' they are punting and some online shopping site. Really not what I want from a bank.
There is an Unsubscribe but I don't want to miss anything that actually might be beneficial to me.
Is this becoming common practice?

Pretty much, they take a commission when you spend with their card and of course their main job is to make a profit for their shareholders.0

Current accounts need to be paid for. At least in the UK we have "free" banking rather than incurring a charge every month.0

I got my first card from Barclays in 1987. Every statement had an exclusive mini shopping catalogue in it.
I never bought anything.
Which is one of two solutions you have. The other choice is to opt out of marketing.0 -

been with Barc 40+ years, never paid any charges, never received any marketing stuff by email, never missed anything important.
Don't understand why you think you have a problem. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
This happens everywhere you shop eg Tesco 2for 1 for products they want to shift etc0

Just opt out of marketing then if you don't want to receive the "spam".0

Barclay's marketing does seem to be a lot more insistent than the other FIs that I deal with, but I keep it going as very occasionally there is something that saves some money - for instance, I got tickets to see The Who without having to pay a booking fee.0

So your annoyed at them spamming you but don't want to cancel it incase you miss something good ?. What do you actually want0
