Our Mondeo has a wonderful MAX button. Hit that, and it puts the blowers on full, on max heat, with A/C on. Also turns the front and rear screen heaters on.
Five minutes to clear.
Hit the button again to turn it off and it reverts to whatever settings you normally have on your air/climate control system.
It's such a good idea. Our other car is an Audi company car with dials for the blower strength, temp, etc. Have to fiddle with every dial and button to get the 'max' effect then turn them all back afterwards.
A friend's Focus also has a MAX button, so assume it's across the Ford range.
5 minutes seems a long time
The Audi, wasn't spec'd with a heated screen, my lowly VW has a metallized windscreen and it certainly doesn't take 5 mins to clear.
In the meantime for the OP, any car new or old shouldn't suffer with condensation, it is a symptom of some other fault (vents blocked (in the boot area) or the heater matrix is starting to leak) sort that and your symptoms of condensation will be gone.0 -

My car is usually garaged, the wipers were worked to demonstrate that there was ice on the outer side of the screen, the whole video is under 2 mins, it shows it takes about a minute to clear and without the wavy wires embeded in the windscreen.0 -

Even working on an estimated saving of 5 minutes a day (if it was icy and misted up in my car every morning), the 30 hours a year I'd save still wouldn't make me drive a Ford.
The reason your Audi doesn't have a button is because it's been poverty-specced by the manufacturer with standard AC/manual climate control rather than fully automatic climate control, so that people/fleets can enjoy that 'drive an Audi' cachet with their friends/competitors, whilst paying no more than they would for a better specced Skoda or VW built using mostly the same components on the same platforms.
Please note, I'm not having a go, just making the point.0 -
Check under the carpets, if its damp/wet then they wont dry out. You need to remove everything and find the cause of the leak."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0

Few minutes at most to clear.

Mine too. It's an excellent feature. Mine puts the blower on max, directed up the screen, max heat and A/C on. It only switches on the heated screens if the temp is low enough, though. To clear a completely frosted screen and demist the inside enough to drive away, about 3-4 minutes. Very convenient, but not blisteringly quick.5 minutes seems a long time
The only other car I have had with a heated screen was a P38 Range Rover. That could clear a screen opaque with frost in about 20 seconds, brilliantly fast. I suspect the current draw for the screen was similar to the output of an average coal-fired power station. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
condensation inside the car can be cured using a cheap recycled paper cat litter, place the whole bag in the car slightly open or decant into socks, gloves to be able to dry it.
AC should be run regularly as the gas/fluid is also a lubricant for the seals and rubbers in the AC circuit. Failure to run it will lead to failure of said components leading to the need for constant regassing!

As for the video I would imagine the wear on the wipers is something youwere already aware of :rotfl: and take into accoumt with the running costs :money:0 -
