Hudl 1 Nightmare

After being recommended them, I bought a Hudl for myself and my pensioner mother. When mine arrived it wouldn't charge at all, so I returned it and got a replacement. This was in August. Since then, they have both been nothing but a disappointment. They take forever to charge, then they drain of battery really quickly. they are sluggish and slow to react and generally not fit for purpose. Yesterday I tried to return them both, they took mine back as it had already been replaced but they refused to refund the one for my Mum. They have said it needs to be repaired and that is their only obligation to us at the moment. Surely if we have had three between us and they have all had issues, this shouldn't be the case. Now I am waiting on a call back from some manager who was too busy to speak to me yesterday, and they will then arrange a collection for the item to be taken away and repaired. In the meantime my Mum is without her Hudl (which she uses for social media and reading) in the middle of the winter. Our plan was to go straight to their electrical desk and buy something else so they would still have had our business. How can I get this resolved to everyone's satisfaction?

If the Hudl is inherently faulty then they must repair, replace or refund you. You can specify a preference, but at this stage you cannot insist on a refund if it is disproportionately costly compared to a repair or replacement.
However if you suggest to them that you would like to replace with a different brand of tablet (and pay the difference in price) then they might agree. Legally, they don't have to though.0 -
I have the Hudl 1 and I cant understand what could be the issue with yours.
Mine charges quickly and I have no problems with the battery draining quickly. I really love mine.
I know in the manual it says how long usage you should get from a full battery but I don't have it to hand at the moment.0 -
Quick update- Tesco have now responded to my email and have been wonderfully helpful so they are collecting the second Hudl and issuing a full refund. My faith in them has been restored now.0

Why are more and more posters coming out with this irrelevant saying?0 -

You must be one of the lucky few then.
Even the helpline acknowledge that battery draining is a known fault. I took mine back after 3 weeks when it became apparent that I would only ever be able to use it for 90 mins before the battery ran out. They refunded me, no quibbling.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
