Wifi not reaching kids xbox?

Hi there I'm hoping for some advice please as I'm not very computer/wifi/gaming savvy!
We have our talk talk router upstairs as it's the only place with phone line and plugs for router and wires are all hidden etc so wifi worked fine till the connection wouldn't reach our playroom at the other end of the house so we bought a wifi booster which we plug in the room but one next to playroom,

All good and worked on xbox 360 online until we purchased the xbox one for our boys for Christmas and now the problem they can no longer access online ,my son spoke to someone at Microsoft who said it's not microsofts end is it our signal? He checked it and the signal strength isn't half of what it should be, has any kind person in the know any suggestions to make a 13 year old very happy please :-)

    I do not have the xboxONE but if i'm right and the wifi receiver is internal then it doesnt have the little antenna that the 360 has. I'd suggest moving the booster closer if possible or maybe adding another. Signal strength to the repeater/booster is likely to be significantly lower however. Of course the best way is to wire an ethernet cable through. I have a 30m ethernet cable which I used to use to connect up my study PC to a laptop in the garden (running a telescope). Who wants to go outside on cold nights?

    You could also try homeplug routers/adaptors. I've not tried those myself so cannot advise as to their quality.

    You could also look to minimise the number of obstructions between the booster and the xbox especially metallic ones.

    Another option you might want to consider is get a kit which routes the internet connection through your mains wiring - you can then pick up the internet from any 13-amp socket and wire it direct to each PC using ethernet cable.

    It's a bit more expensive but connection to the router is both secure from interception and has better signal strength for faster speeds. You can then switch the WiFi off altogether.

    A couple of things to check first...

    Are the network settings on the Xbox correct?

    Is the Xbox connecting to the correct wireless router/booster?

    If you have a spare ethernet port on your router (and a spare £25), the following powerline adapters are good and require very little effort to set up;
