The larger part of our electric built in double oven died just now, top part still works as does the LCD clock, but not the lower part.
Any ideas please?

Heater element gone, is it visible, does it look damaged? Faulty switch, faulty thermostat...Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

When my element failed, the fan still ran, and the indicator lamp which should go off when it's reached temperature just stayed on. I then realised the oven wasn't getting hot, pointing o the element as being faulty.
Fairly easy DIY job and a common fault judging by the sales of them on ebay.0 -
Thanks all will check tomorrow,
flashg67, the mrs said she couldnt hear the fan going in the lower oven once it went off, will try and look at the element. also, read on line the main fuse can sometimes go too
Only thing is thr make/model number of the oven has worn/been cleaned off the front so we dont know what actual oven we have0 -
If you pull the oven out you'll probably (indeed should) find information on the back about the oven, typically including the make/model, power ratings, and often a serial number.
I think it's a legal requirement for them to have the input power information on the device (everything mains powered has it somewhere), and most manufacturers tend to also use it to have the make/model and serial number, probably because it makes it easier when installers and engineers are filling out paperwork.0 -
In addition, if neither element or fan motor are operating, there may be failure of a connector common to both.
The element can be checked with a multi meter connected across the terminals (after safely isolating). You may have to disturb some wadding to obtain access.
Be aware that some elements are secured by rivets so bear that in mind and ensure the correct rating is fitted.
