Parking Ticket Advice

Options
Hello folks, I was hoping that someone could offer me some advice in relation to a parking ticket that was issued in Newcastle on 13th September 2014. The company are CPO Vehicle Control Services. It is a private car park as far as i'm aware and the charge was £1.20 per hour. Ticket was bought at 12.57 and I paid £3.40 (I was missing the last 20p but thought the machine would give me the extra time that i'd paid for), although it only gave me until 14.57. I then got a ticket issued at 15.13 ( imust have literally just missed them putting the ticket on the car as I was back by 15.15). The ticket was for £100 (£60 if paid within a certain length of time).

Now I have e-mailed the company, without providing any of my details, appealing the ticket on the grounds that I had paid the required amount to park for the length of time that i had been there, as I'd paid £3.40 which is shown on the ticket. They rejected the appeal and asked for the details of the owner of the car and who was driving. The car acutally belongs to my wife who acutally wasn't there, and a letter came to our home address in her name asking for the £100 payment, although as a gesture of goodwill they would honour the £60 payment for another two weeks otherwise court action may be taken. They rejected the appeal on the grounds that there is sufficient signs up in the car park (which I honestly didn't check), they don't take part payment for time spent there, and that I had not provided the details fo the owner/driver.

I was just looking for advice from someone as to whether i need to pay this ticket or if the fact that i'd paid for the time i was there is sufficient enough. Any adivice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

So, if you've already appealed to them they should have given you details to appeal to the relevant body?

I'd recommend reading the NEWBIES sticky, don't bother about reading the initial appeal to the PPC because you've already done that part.

If I remember correctly though, VCS are now part of the IPC (who have the IAS as an appeal body) - someone else can confirm, but I think the advice is to not bother appealing to these because they're biased towards the PPC.

EDIT: The letter you got I assume is the NTK. When you sent them an email, you didn't include any of the ticket details? if not, you can re-appeal as keeper using the NEWBIES sticky for guidance.
  • Hi CoreDefect, and thanks for the swift response. Yes I did e-mail them and included all of the ticket details, I even provided them with a photo of the ticket I had bought which proved how much I had paid for the ticket. I just didn't put any personal details on the e-mail at all, although it appears they won't reply to an e-mail and want everything done by post. I'll have a look at that thread thanks and see where I go from there.

    Thank again

Just ignore them now if you have appealed. VCS are with the IPC and there is no appeal worth trying:

Only take real court papers seriously (very very rare from VCS). You 'could' send the appeal from the NEWBIES thread to VCS but they are unlikely to cancel. It does have the advantage though of showing them you are getting help on a forum, and it includes the fact you have cancelled the 'contract' and made a drop hands offer which all looks very reasonable on your part if ever VCS decide to try a small claim over it. They do lose them though!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
