Identity Fraud

Someone has managed to open a new account in my name, with a £1000 overdraft and then emptied it straight away!

Firstly, how the hell do they manage this? :(

Secondly, I'm literally 2 weeks away from a CCJ dropping off my credit file which will then be clean! Apart from 2 credit cards (that I've used for credit building) phone bill and my current account.

But checked on my file today with experian and the account that was taken out in my name is on there, firstly showing that it was setup in October, and then on the November update it shows I owe £1000 on this account now, been though I was assured by TSB this wouldn't happen!

This is really upsetting as I've worked so hard to clean up my credit file to achieve the dream of buying a home and it could all be torn apart by some scumbag :(

Anyone have experience on this guess I'm just looking for some reassurance. Thanks as always
Lee

Sorry to hear of this Lee. Have you spoken to LloydsTSB, or whichever organisation with whom the fraud has been committed? If so, what did they say?

    Thanks for reply.

I spoke with TSB yes they said that this wouldn't go on my file etc and wouldn't affect me as it's clearly fraud, yet a month later it's on there

Being just two weeks away from your CCJ coming off will start to improve your Credit Report, I am really sorry to hear this has happened to you as it sounds like you have been working really well to improve your report.

If you would like to send me your details (name/dob/address including postal code) by email I would be more than happy to look into the matter further for you, by rising a query/disputing the information you feel is showing as incorrect on your credit report.

I look forward to your email and I wish you all the best of luck when applying for your new home.

    Kind Regards

All too easily, you don't need that much personal information to open a PCA.

Guess they'll be reviewing the security tapes then.

Not if it was done online, where most identity fraud takes place.

I have no idea? I don't see how they got away with it? 2 years ago someone managed to transfer £1600 from my current account to my savings account and then subsequently empty it out, doing 8 £200 withdrawals in 2 days and Lloyds didn't even notice !!!!!!!

How they manage that, there's a limit how much you can get from an ATM a day.
