US Dollar Credit Card

We are always strongly advised to pay for things (even if just the initial deposit) by credit card as it gives better consumer protection in the case of company going bust etc. Am I able to get US dollar credit card with similar protection being a UK resident? I have a Lloyds Dollar current account and debit card, which I hope to use to books US holidays, but I am not sure this card gives any protection. Can I get this consumer protection with a US credit, debit or charge card?

Comments

  • The protection comes under the Consumer Credit Act. If your card is issued under a different jurisdiction then you won't get CCA S75 protection.

Using a Halifax Clarity Credit Card does provide you with protection. It bills in Sterling though.
