Installing LG tv and soundbar

Have just bought LG Smart tv and LG soundbar (bluetooth enabled).
I can see that the subwoofer connects to the soundbar by bluetooth but am not sure of best way to connect the tv to the soundbar. I appear to have two options:- bluetooth or Optical Audio cable (supplied). If I am right in this which would be the better method of connection?

Just about to complete a similar setup except my television does not have bluetooth therefore it is Optical cable connectivity only for me.
So you are correct in your thoughts.0 -
Sorry to hijack this thread but it's the ideal place for asking a question.
When connecting a soundbar via an optical audio cable, does the normal sound output from the TV speakers get disabled automatically? and does the volume control for the TV increase and decrease the output to the soundbar or is this a set output that can only be adjusted by using a remote supplied with the soundbar?0 -

This may vary by manufacturer but for me the soundbar takes over. Altering volume on the TV has no effect - and good job because its awful
A possible issue with some setups though is that the sound on some HD movies can come across quite badly through a soundbar. I think this is something to do with dolby digital not being an option in some soundbar settings. Tis a tad annoying.0 -
May I bring this back to my original question, please?
If I have the choice of connecting my new tv to a soundbar with either Bluetooth or an optical cable, which is likely to give the best results?
Many thanks.0 -
We have connected using the optical cable as recommended when we bought the sound bar. Very pleased with sound quality. We turned off the speakers on the tv and the sound comes from the sound bar.0

You also probably don't actually have the choice - the bluetooth is likely just for connecting bar-sub. Optical cable gives better sound quality than bluetooth can manage anyway.0

Thank you, all three. That's very useful and I'll follow your advice.0
