Any advice as to which is the best service?
We are looking at paypal as would like a device in the cash and carry and a mobile device for our delivery driver.
Looks like there are so many different layers of charges, hard to unravel

For a small business, iZettle should be one of the cheapest, and the reviews are brilliant, not just from us.

We have a number of our drivers signed up with the service, and they love it.

    I use https://www.adelante.co.uk

I have their app on my phone, where you just enter the card details. They also provide a chip&pin machine if required.

I'd feel very uneasy about card details being entered into phones, however it's largely dependent on what your customer will think.

If it's for large amounts it would be cheque, and for smaller amounts I'd go to an ATM to withdraw cash, which could be putting your driver at risk afterwards.

iZettle is a separate device, which I feel a lot more comfortable with.

Problem here is that many companies are no longer accepting cheques due to their tendancy to bounce and length of time for them to clear. Cash is also an issue for drivers as they need to carry change and its a security issue.

I use Worldpay Zinc which is very sinilar to iZettle. You have a chip and pin reader device which is bluetoothed to an ipad or smartphone.

Very easy to set up and use. The money is in my account within 3 working days. I pay 2.75% on all transactions, paid via DD monthly. There are no other fees to pay and you don't have to have a minimum of transactions. I've looked at iZettle and they charge a sliding scale, so the more the amount paid on a card, the less the fee, so'll probably go over to this.

I speak up for worldpay zinc too - my reasoning is that the helpdesk is UK based, and is an 033 phone number (ie in your mobile bundle), and the name worldpay may be more familiar to some people (originally from RBS, I think). Whichever provider you choose, check their support as having to email and wait can be frustrating if there's a customer holding on.

If you like the look of worldpay zinc, you can go to the referrals part of this site and ask for a referral code if there are any referral deals on at the moment (reducing the handset price).
