HSBC & credit file

Hello

I was wondering if anyone could help me? HSBC have recently marked on my credit file (experian) that I have a mortgage. It is presently (u) listed on file and found this odd as I was told by credit agencies that mortgages are not marked on your file as they are considered as a secure lending?!

I have recently applied for a mortgage with HSBC and in the process of completing but do not a bank account with them.

Is this true? Or is this something new that has been introduced by HSBC?

Also can this been removed from my experian file.

Would very much appreciate any advice or help.
Thanks

All forms of credit, i.e. secured or unsecured, are being reported to CRA.

My mortgage was listed with the CRA's, at all of Natwest, HSBC and Halifax.

When applying for credit such as a mortgage, a credit search/footprint may appear on your credit report. Mortgages / Loans and Credit Cards can appear on your credit report if you feel the information has been recorded incorrectly on your Credit Report then please contact us as we would be able to help you further.

On your Experian Credit Report the symbol 'U' in the account’s status history means 'Unclassified', which doesn’t mean anything negative.

Companies use this in the following circumstances:

    - At the start of an account, when the lender is allowing time for administration to be set up.

    - When you're waiting for goods to be delivered.

    - When you've received the goods but payment isn't due to start yet.

    - When there's a dispute over payment or over the goods received. The status U may be used until the dispute is resolved.

    - When the account is not being used.

I hope this helps and best of luck with your mortgage.

    Kind Regards
