Freezer not freezing

Hi all

First up I have to confess that I have no knowledge of how things work sorry

I have a Proline mini freezer, a table top one, which has stopped freezing all of a sudden. It has worked fine til now, and 2 days ago I went to put something in and noticed stuff was defrosting. Luckily I had space in the main fridge freezer to put most the items in.

I have moved it from it's normal location (on top on fridge freezer) to the lounge, emptied and defrosted it (although it wasn't too frosty as it was defrosted in Dec). I left it off for 24 hours and then plugged it in yesterday. It sounds like it is working, makes the humming noise that they make. But I tried making ice cubes yesterday in it and after 10 hours I still had water. The dial is set to 7, the max.

Any suggestions?

I've googled the model no but no joy, it is BB01H2E0100. I don't have the manual.

I got it free 3 years ago and have no idea how long the person I got it from owned it. Will be sad to see it go as it has been very useful, and not in a position to replace it til we move house next year.

I have a LEC table-top freezer that did the same when it was only about 2 to 3 years old. I gave up on it. Can you see any ice forming on any of the pipework that is visible on the inside of the freezer?

Nope no ice forming at all. I think I may have to accept it has died just wishe dit had hung on for a few more months!!

If the compressor is going & it's not freezing it has a gas leak or a blockage. It's probably had it, sorry.

sounds like the refrigerant gas (R 134) has leaked out, hard to tell where,
unless a vacuum test is performed, then the pipes cleaned with nitrogen
after the leak is sealed, before re-pressurizing with more R 134.
somehow, I do not think anyone in the UK will do this economically,
as you live in a "throw-away" society,
unfortunately.

Given that you got it free 3 years back I don't think you can complain or even expect a cheap repair, get another free 1, :D
