When you connect the minidisc player to the PC can you see the files?

When I did mine I seem to remember that the PC could, just like a CD and all I did was drag them into the music player and export them as mp3 but I was using Linux not windows.

Towards the end of Minidisks (RIP) there were players that had something called 'NetMD' which, if I recall, allowed connection to a computer and maybe copying of 'files' (that you can then convert to whatever you like). Might be very cheap these days.
Audacity is a good suggestion, but is just a recorder, the same as for tapes or records or anything. You'll have to re-do tracks and naming and there'll be a loss of sound quality from going analogue if you need to.

NetMD, thats the one. It's what made it easy for me to do what the OP wants.

If your player doesn't have NetMD capability then it might be an isea to have a look on eBay for one.

According to this http://www.minidisc.org/NetMD_faq.html Net MD is pc to md only. From memory the Sony software uses its own specific file type which then requires conversion.

Some of the very last minidisc players could import to pc via USB using the last version of sonic stage. I'm not sure if it was sony's last ditch attempt to keep MD alive.

Mine is an MZ-RH1and I'm sure it listed the tracks on the MD in in sonic stage and you could simply drag and drop. I used some other software on Linux to do mine but can't remember what.

My memory (on windows and sonic stage was a pile of .... software to use) was you could copy mp3s from the pc to md over usb and "check out" them to the MD but You could not copy anything back. Checking the files back I n deleted them from the md and made them available to put on another disc. Any recording from a non sonic stage source could not be brought back to a PC as an audio input

If you have any live recordings then As somersethillbilly said audacity is the way to go playing them into the sound card and re-recording them.
If they are copies if anything on cd re ripping the cd will be faster

Hi all, I have turned all my recordings into Mp3 Via Audacity with no problems. When I am listening to them on the pc there is no problem with the volume. But when I move them onto my Mp3 player I need to have the volume right up on the player to get hardly any volume! any ideas please.
