  • Not sure if this has already been posted but mayonnaise is great for cleaning the leaves on your houseplants, (not the hairy type) just wipe over with a piece of kitchen roll or tissue and leave to dry. You get a lovely shine!

Well another foody one but I love mayo with chips. How healthy... Also a nice thing to do is mix some up with plenty of ground black pepper and have it in a wrap with like BLT or chicken strips or as I'm veggie I have the veggie alternatives. Yummy.

Another foody one here for you,one of my daughters favourite meals is pasta, ham (or if we've had roast chicken she dices some of this) sweetcorn and a big spoonful of mayo all mixed up together, sometimes adds lettuce if shes feeling extra healthy. She has this for packed lunch at school now and again, when I can persuade her to help me save some money.

    Ok peeps

Ive looked through the indexed thread collection and cant find anything anywhere about mayonnaise.

Basically to cut a long story short boyfriend asked me to make him a similiar sandwich to one he brought in a well known high street bakery beginning with G.
It consisted of coked chicken, lettuce, mayonnaise and red onion.

So I made said rolls and he enjoys them but its only a matter of time before he is bored with it and he brought a medium size jar of Hellmans Light Mayonnaise - I don't eat it, my 5 year old doesn't like and I'm wondering what the flip else I can do with it!

Boyfriend is into healthy eating at the minute but I think I could get away with things like chicken burgers, in rolls with salad and Mayo too but stuck for ideas.

    Any help appreciated.

You say you don't like mayo. Do you like seafood sauce or the marie rose sauce that's used in prawn salad?

I make a cheap and easy version by mixing mayo and tomato ketchup together, roughly 2x mayo: 1x ketchup. Adjust to taste adding more of either if you think it needs it et voila! Nice with chips! and even the wee one might like it.

    It's only a game

I picked up a tip from one of these cookery programmes a year or two ago that did low fat food makeovers. You can make low fat fried fish and chips by dipping fish fillet in mayonnaise with a little seasoning and rolling in breadcrumbs and either putting it in the grill or oven baking. I have done many variations of this using different variations of spices and meats and it is quick and delicious.

If you do it in the George Foreman grill, it is murder to clean after though! :)

I always throw some mayo in coleslaw when I make that. I don't really work to a recipe but just slice onions, white cabbage and grated carrot - add some mayo and some white wine vinegar (plus salt, pepper, garlic to taste) Mix it all up and yum! It also stores very well in the fridge.

If you like tuna, its good in tuna pasta salad. Just cook the pasta, drain the tuna and mash, then mix together adding whatever veg are to hand. Boiled egg is also a good addition. Very easy and quick to make for a lunch or main course.
