Christmas Direct Debits

I had a Direct Debit due to go out on the 29th for a loan with Ikano (furniture on finance). It didn't go out yesterday as expected, so I figured the holiday meant it would be perhaps a day late. I just checked and it still hasn't been taken.
Forgive my ignorance, but do I need t do anything differently, or just wait for the Direct Debit to be taken? We've had the finance since February and have never done anything differently.
Thanks

Wait.
If it's still not been collected by the start of next week call the firm.
(I assume you've checked you have available funds in your account to cover the payment).0 -

Yeah, funds are there and have been all week. I checked the DD setup on my account and it is still active. I also noticed last month it was taken on the 1st due to the weekend, so I guess this is normal?0 -
Hi
Same has happened to me. I have a direct debit go out on 25th of every month and it was collected yesterday. I would just sit and wait. It may take longer due to the bank holidays. Just make sure the payment is there when they decide to take it.0 -
Many finance companies/credit card companies will not process payments until 31st Dec so I wouldn't consider this an issue.
Payments are never taken on weekends/bank hols or other selected dates (with some companies) such as now.
With DDs the onus is on the company to request payment from your bank, not for you to push it. You have nothing to worry about.0 -
I had a direct debit for O2 due out Yesterday which hasn't gone out as yet. It's pretty normal for the festive period as all the extra bank holidays can throw things out of whack
As long as you keep the funds available it should get taken eventually, in all likelihood tomorrow0 -
Cheers for the replies, good to know0

Yeah, it is because of the festive season, anyone should wait for a week at least.0
