Morning all,
Sharp frost here again this mornig and bitterly cold have been out to feed the bitds who swooped down to feed.
We went for a lovely long walk yesterday we went for miles the frost had not thawed all day and it was so pretty will try and get out later for another one. I do miss walking with a dog though its just not the same without
I have some dried peas soaking and some stock left from cooking the gammon yesterday so I will make a pea and ham soup later on.
Will have the rest of the gammon for dinner tonight might do some mash to go with and peas / pickle.
Hester glad dd is ok xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Very cold here too this morning. I have a second load of laundry in, the towels I am going to put then on the whirly for a while and then leave them on the airer over night. Last nights washing is on the airer now, I have a load of whites to do tonight and the bed linen tomorrow, once thats done the whites and bed linen will be taken to the launderette so it will not be hanging about on NY day.
Back to simple food, macaroni cheese for supper with salad.0 -
Morning all
Glad all went ok with DD Hester, hope she isn't feeling to sore today.
Still the snow is hanging around, was very cold on my walk to work this morning, called in at Waitrose on my way down, free coffee, warm hands
Also hadn't made any lunch and got some lentil and chilli soup reduced, not out of date till Friday so that's my lunch today and tomorrow sorted.
Very quiet at work, only me in our office. That's why I'm on here
I keep putting that big grin up but really I'm annoyed, I wanted a day off but wasn't allowed one as the only person who works in the afternoons booked all the time off over xmas and new year, hey ho!
No idea what is for dinner tonight, still got Mum staying so will have to make something, need to hunt through the freezer when I get home.
Sorry for my moan, I'll go now and do some filing while the phone is quiet.:D
hope any poorly people feel better soon, enjoy the rest of your day whatever you are doing.

Morning all,
Hope all is well with you all and you had a fab Christmas. Got back at 4 this morning from having Christmas with my Aunt in Spain. Plane was delayed by 4 hours because of the troubled Virgin plane at Gatwick. At least we weren't diverted! Got a load of washing in the machine and DH is looking at the heating as a couple of rads aren't getting warm. Need to do an Aldi shop later. Will try to catch up with all the news later.

Afternoon All,
Its been a while since I last posted!
Hope everyone is enjoying the post Xmas days and looking forward to a nice New Year of OS!
I'm at work again today, normal 3 working days for me this week
, nothing I can do about it so just got to get on with it.
OH looking after DS so have only given him one job to do - hoover and mop kitchen floor. I'll be lucky if that gets done!
Eating leftover pulled pork & egg fried rice for lunch - yummy. Tea - who knows, whatever OH has remembered to get out of the freezer (or will get out when I ring him to remind him in a bit!)
Hope your afternoon is nice and peaceful
Lou
But I want a golden goose daddy and I want it right NOW!!!!!
Yes Verucca dear. :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon all!
Ventured out into the cold this morning...wrapped up well and with hand-knitted (by Mum) gloves and hand-knitted (by me) hat....went to the pop-up calendar shop....It opens in December and closes in January...we waited until today o that they have their 'closing down' sale...everything is 40% off...Why buy a £10 calendar or Diary before Christmas when you get them for £6 just before New Year?!!!
(Yes I KNOW I could have made them myself for even less.......)
Baked a load yesterday....it is now sliced and some of it in the freezer...there are always a few 'uneven' scraps when slicing - and the end bit has a hole from the paddle (I used a bread maker)....so tonight I will have a savoury bread-and-butter type of pudding for dinner (spread the bread scraps with joghurt cheese and a little mustard, place in an ovenproof dish...layer with some scraps of ham and tomato...and the spoonful of mushy peas I have left!....and pour over a mix of seasoned egg and milk ...bake until the savoury custard sets!)
Hope everyone is keeping warm....the weather is decidedly wintery!0 -
Good Afternoon everyone, it was -4 here this morning when we woke up and just got above freezing at lunchtime though it was well on the way back down an hour ago when I walked Docky. He gave me a real fright this morning, He Who Knows came back from walkies with a lurcher who had a massively swollen and closed eye on the side that has the tumour. Instantly concerned I thought VET now!!! then it was explained to me that 3 dogs including him had been running together and managed to run into each other at speed and head but each other and that was why, nothing to do with the cancer spreading. Relief was felt an the swelling is down now but I'll bet it's sore, poor old boy.
We seem to have passed on the head cold to He Who Knows and I'm still at the really tickly cough stage with mine but DD is almost whole again thank goodness. It's making us really tired and headachey so it's nice to be able to sit by the fire in the warm and talk to the world on the computer. Hope you are all well and recovered from the Christmas festivities, I'll be pleased to get to the other side of New Year and let life get back to normal again, Lyn xxx.0 -
Hi all,
just a quick hello from me as I'm not at home at present. Hubby wanted a few days away in the caravan before he went back to work but we are going home tomorrow.
'Youngest' had a bit of a lads night in on Sunday night. I hid everything in sight and locked my bedroom and home office doors before I went. 'How did it go?' I asked him Sunday evening. Think he misread what I asked "they loved the sofas, big telly, bathroom and the veranda" he told me.:rotfl:
Weather is pretty darned cold in North Devon but its only stopped us going on the beach. Everything we wanted to do we've done.
'Youngest' is now entertaining a lady friend. I messaged him earlier and he took ages to message back. 'Sorry I didn't message back sooner" he answered 'we were in the shower'.
Oh dear, I'm not mentally equipped to hear that.
Weve been having breakfast in the van but eating out at night and I'm desperate for a decent home cooked meal..... Still home tomorrow. Need to pack up what we bought down and clean the van tomorrow. Ive bought my vacuum and cleaning stuff and I'm hoping to be back home by 3 tomorrow.
Onwards and forwards,
have a good evening all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Ouch! I hope he doesn't have too much of a headache. Give him a cuddle from Auntie Wolfy.:oMrsLurcherwalker wrote: »He gave me a real fright this morning, He Who Knows came back from walkies with a lurcher who had a massively swollen and closed eye on the side that has the tumour.
