Best screen protection for tv?

hi folks,

Having a child that can throw things and getting a new plasma 42 inch tv soon (choose plasma as it seems to have a more durable screen) I wonder if any of you have bought a screen protector off the internet and what you think of them.

Child is six with autism and could lie down in front of tv, so want something that is secure and not fall down on top injuring him.

Any advice greatly appreciated if you have one or know anything about screen protectors.

Thanks

  • Youre basically going to be looking at a sheet of plastic to put in front of the TV. What will be suitable will depend on your setup (wall mounted or not etc), how discrete you want it and how much image quality you are willing to sacrifice. Your standard films are just to stop glare etc so wont be suitable for stopping projectiles

How about a projector instead? You can throw what you like at the screen, it's happily tucked out of harm's way

Contact your household insurance company and see how you stand or if you can buy extra insurance due to the circumstance.
The National Autistic Society can provide insurance for Third party accidents or injury caused by an Autistic child, which is also worth considering as they gets older.
Check out their website, if you haven't already, details are on there.

    Thanks very much for replies.
I was hoping that maybe someone had one of these screen protectors and could let me know if any good or not, but maybe not many people buy them.
I suppose since its a plasma tv the screen will be somewhat stronger than LED.
    Thanks very much again.
