Another question...!
We have had an offer accepted on a house and there is very little that could put us off the house (it ticks every box and is in an area that we know and like), however, my partner and I are disagreeing about one teeny little issue....
Very few of the houses have drive ways (luckily, the one we want has a double drive and a garage) but we have noticed that a lot of people park fully on the pavement. There are no parking restrictions in the street (except for a very small double-yellow lined area opposite a junction). It isn't something that I have really paid attention to but my OH seems to be really annoyed by it. We do have a baby and I can see his point that it might be awkward to get past the cars with a pushchair (and pretty much no chance of getting a wheelchair through there, however, thankfully, that isn't something that is needed by us).
The street does have a service road so most houses would have parking/garages at the rear but I assume most people are parking at the front for convenience.
I just wondered what others thought of it? Is this something that would be an issue to you?

It doesn't matter whether it would bother other people - it's how strongly your partner feels about the issue that's important.
On the other hand, if you've found a house that perfect, I would grab it. Most buyers have to compromise on several issues to do with the house itself.0 -
I guess I was more asking to see if there was anything I hadn't thought of, with this issue. My partner knows that it is not a bad issue to have, if all it is is a little annoying.0

Just as an add on...you mention it may be to do with convenience.
Perhaps people park their cars on the street/pavement to make their insurance premiums cheaper...

My partner has already emailed the council who said that they have no money available to investigate and to just call the police if we feel it is dangerous. They admitted that parking on grass verges falls to them but that they cannot help us at this time. I certainly won't be deliberately damaging their cars (or my top of the range pram, more importantly!), however tempting!0 -
Would it bother me? Hell yeah, but I'm over-sensitive.
Wouldn't even be walking around them that'd bother me. It'd be looking out my window to a Mad Max style view with cars all over the place, adding a sense of industrial claustrophobia.0 -
Yes, it would bother me. It signifies that these blighters do not care about any one except themselves and i would not want them as neighbours. Find a better area and compromise on something else. You can easily change a kitchen etc but changing neighbours' bad attitudes is impossible.0

This is actually the only part of it that I am slightly worried about- how it looks! Although it does only seem to be on a weekend, and luckily (for this reason only) we both work most weekends!0 -
