Dream host taken some money from me

I apologise if this is not in the correct place.

I have various domains with a company called Dream Host. I've been with them since 2006. Today I was looking at my bank account online and there have been three small payments taken out which seemed to point to dream host. I don't understand them, I certainly didn't authorise these payments and I've never had them before in nearly 10 years being with dream host. Anybody else had the same thing happened to them?

NON-STG PURCH FEE CD 5924 DEB
NON-STG TRANS FEE 2.99% CD 5924 DEB
DreamHost dh-fee. US 11.95 VISAXR 1.54793 CD 59

most likely renewal fees if you have domains set to autorenew, so in effect giving them permission to auto renew these domains.

$11.95 USD is the cost of their .com domains, so yes it will be renewal of domains

The 3 transactions are all basically from one charge. It's a US dollar fee, plus the other two are the fees for processing a charge in a foreign currency. So you've been charged $11.95 for the hosting plus the bank's fees for processing it. Maybe the bank never used to separate them out as individual transactions before.

This if you bank with RBS/Natwest.
  • You're right, I just remembered, one of the domains I renewed recently was using a debit card, I'd totally forgotten as I normally use a different method to pay for the domains. It's just the two other fees that confused me, if it was just the one I think I would have realised straight away. Anyway, thanks guys, I feel a bit stupid now :-)
