Sainsbury's 123 - Cashback on online shopping??

(Sorry about the Sainsbury's 123 in the title... I mean Santander!!)

I am considering getting a Santander 123 credit card as I have heard good things about it.

It says you can get cashback on shopping in certain places. However I do the majority of my "big shopping" online; I do a big online grocery shop on Sainsbury's about once a fortnight, and I buy train tickets etc online. I basically buy everything online... electronics, clothes, gifts, gadgets, homewares. I don't drive so I don't need cashback on petrol.

However on their online calculator, it gives 'locations' for most of the big shops. eg. Sainsbury's you can get cashback at big stores and it mentions the big store a couple of miles from me (which I'd rather not have to trek to) but it doesn't mention online.

Does anybody have this card and also do most of their shopping online? Do you get cashback on your online purchases or do you need to do it in-store to get the cashback?

The cashback depends on what code the shop gives their transactions. There shouldn't be any difference between buying online or instore, as Sainsburys should give the same merchant code to Santander because they're still the same merchant*, regardless of where the transaction is made.

*Note where supermarkets have non-food departments, like tesco.com selling dishwashers, that's probably going to be a different merchant code.

I don't use my supermarket cashback card online, but I'm confident it'll work if I did.
