Experian Providing Personal Details???

Hi Guys, this is sort of in relation to my other post regarding an outstanding mortgage debt.
Basically, about 1 month ago, I registered for an Experian Credit Report. I'd never had one before, but I wanted to check out my rating as I have some big decision to make.
Anyway, I have a historical mortgage debt that I was last contacted about in approximately 2010/2011 and I thought I'd heard the last from them.
But, within 2 days of registering on Experian, I had a letter from RBS, saying that my outstanding debt had been passed onto Dryden Fairfax.

Now, I'm wondering whether this is purely co-incidence, or whether Experian have actually supplied my current address to the mortgage company.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't been in hiding or anything like that, my current address was on my Experian File anyway, but it just seems a bit odd to not hear from the mortgage company for over 3 years and then I register for a Credit Report and a letter lands on my doorstep within 2 days!

Do Experian work in cahoots with these companies?

There's the Gone Away Information Network (GAIN).

Once a record is updated it triggers a notification.

Experian also offer services such as this which can automatically notify creditors of updated address or other details.

Registering with Experian would have updated their database, so yes it's likely they got it from Experian if they didn't have it before.

These companies 'sell themselves' on being a service for the consumer, when in fact they are 'servicing' both sides and charging both sides.

You have to agree to this to get your credit report.

Consumers that don't pay loans make it more difficult for others to get loans.
Increasing recovery increases the ease of other consumers getting loans.

Not the issue being complained of. The OP was concerned that his data was being used for purposes he felt he did not explicitly agree to.

For example, fill in a Royal Mail redirection form (and pay) and in addition to getting the service, RM tell Government departments, TVLRO and (AIUI) CRA's - supposedly for 'fraud protection'. A win-win for RM who get paid from all concerned.

This is echoed by the CRA's who will use any data you provide to update their files to make the data more valuable.... to them.

Primarily Credit Agencies are a business resource always have been. What service do they actually provide consumers with?
