With the fruit vodkas, my guess would be that if you use frozen fruit it will be read very quickly because the freezing process ruptures the cells and releases all the juice. I usually make it with the fresh sour cherries I have and it therefore takes t least 6 months for the juice to leach out.

In the same vein, I no longer prepare my sloes for sloe jelly by pricking them all over with a darning needle. I just wash and weigh out the portion I'm going to use, pop them in the freezer for a couple of days and then use them from frozen. :)

Hey all, I infused some apples with whiskey last yeah, one lot i strained and bottled up and the other I put in a cupboard for another few weeks.... Fast forward a year and I have just discovered the second batch still with the apples inside!!!! Question is... do you think this will be okay to strain and drink or am I best getting rid?!!

    Cheers for any advise x

    Hello all
Not much to report recently but have been reading along. Redcurrant vodka sounds amazing :D I'm still minimising the contents of my wardrobe, it's a very slow going process though. I'm also trying to minimise my toiletries before christmas as I usually get heaps then.

I got the weekly shop today, managed to get a YS pork joint which will be for tea tonight and a gf loaf which I've popped into the freezer. Me and OH reorganised the freezer and found a few bits at the bottom which I'd forgotten about so will use them up over the next couple of weeks.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :)

I've minimised 2 bras today, I still have 23 in the drawer! At least if the house blows down I will have something to camp in.

Recycling a large pine mirror, I'm painting it black to put at the top of the stairs - had the stair carpet fitted today, it's so lovely and quiet. That's just about it for my renovations at the moment, going to save up for the kitchen to be done but no rush, it isn't that bad.

Nothing mended but there's always tomorrow.

A few of the tights that I mended a couple of weeks ago are now further falling apart. Never mind, they are now washed and on their way to the ragbag in the attic. The attic is reasonably easy to access, and if I put the ragbag in sight dds will cry every time they see a familiar item in there, and dh will tell me to send the item to relatives in Africa. I prefer to keep them unaware.....

My dds and I have been baking angel cakes. Normally that takes me about 10 minutes to prepare, but with their help, it took me 40!

We go to the library every week, which helps me minimise the books I own and have to take care of.

I make boozy jam with the leftover fruit, I shall start off some limoncello one day this week & make my quince jelly.

Anyone seen Vhalla - have I missed something? Has her DB whisked her away?

  • Hello everyone

Lazy Sunday here, haven't done much and will go over to my parents later on. We will have dinner and enjoy a few rounds of our favourite board game. Mum and I played yesterday as well, she lost three out of four rounds...

Minimised my tea today, I have loads of it but keep drinking the same ones all the time and the rest lays forgotten in my cupboard. So binned a few very old ones and the ones I really don't like and stored the rest of them nicely so that I can see what I have.

Make do is planned but I don't know if I will do it today or next week. Have a nice, fluffy towel that is falling apart round the edges so it will now be cut apart and resewn to make reusable panty liner.

Oh and a not really planned make do with yarn... I was working on a hat for two weeks but messed it up so badly that I unraveled it... Was about 2/3 done and a few months back I would have finished it and told myself that it will keep my head warm nevertheless, but actually when I put so much work into something I want a nice garnment and not something messed up. so that is more fun with the same yarn :-)

My holidays are coming closer and I already started to write a shopping list. I tend to end up shopping mindlessly when on holidays, so I make sure that I pick up things I would need anyway to feel like I did a lot of shopping while at the same time making sure that I don't just buy things I don't need.

So, will now do a bit of stitching before it is time to go to my parents, Christmas is less than 40 days away and I'm still not really far with the present for my sister... So need to stitch on...

    Have a nice Sunday everyone!
