FPK I wish I could find a way of stopping Flora from scratching a particular chair. I have tried everything, and if I move the furniture around, which I do from time to time, she sulks.
You can see who rules the home here, can't you.

Good morning
fpk how about a rag rug.I made one at school with y1's when we did Victorians. Most effective and super easy.Cadge a sack, cut to the size you want, hem the edge, cut lots of scraps into 4 inch strips and off you go.Oh you also need to break a wooden peg in half and whitle the pointy end a bit to poke holes through the hessian,a stick would do.
I had a lovely day yesterday.Went to a carboot with my son.Bought a large picture frame for one that was broken in the move,a reindeer ornament and a gingerbread man plate, and a white plastic lampshade the likes of which I have been looking at on eebay for £20+.Spent £2.20 I know ,I know Christmas stuff, sorry.
We then went to visit my Mum who is house sitting for my brother, had lunch then drove to Harrogate, tea with his possible inlaws,gf at work then took him to work saving him a 13 mile round trip on his bike.We had a meal there .with his staff discount it was £10.
Today I need to clean and tidy,it is getting on my nerves now,i keep cleaning and tidying but it never looks any better.
DD2's friend coming later for a sleep over.I will try to get them out blackberrying later.
Tomorrow we will go out,the last time this summer.Maybe Cannon Hall, maybe the ice cream farm in Cheshire, maybe Ikea.Depends on the weather.Hopefully these places will be quieter as everyone else has gone back to school.

Candlelight :rotfl: To be honest, I'm not sure if we'd notice if Maggie the Cat had a strop, it would just seem like her usual personality!
Vulpix--it is a great idea and one I've had my eye on but I haven't yet managed to get the hessian. I know where I can buy a piece, but I'm trying not to buy anything in until I get through a few other projects...still if I do get through a few and still haven't gotten what I need free it isn't very expensive. I may ask you for a few tips. I hope you enjoyed the carboot. I did ask OH if he wanted to go next weekend, but his parents have asked us to meet up at the vintage fair in another direction.0 -

Hello everyone
A day off today for meso I had a nice lie in, went to the gym, got the shopping in, met my gran for coffee and visited a friend in hospital.
I went a wander round a few shops with my gran including JLewis and a local fabric shop. Had a lovely time looking at all the fabric, sewing and knitting things but resisted buying anything.
This evening we had salad for tea and then watched the Dallas buyers club which I really enjoyed.
Another day off tomorrow - plan is baking and cleaning. Hope everyone has had a good day. Night xMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.7.25 - £106,653.66
Mortgage overpayment savings - £33.53/£50

Morning all,
Thanks Vulpix. That is very kind of you!
MissTara we watched Dallas buyers club a few months ago--I think we must have borrowed the dvd from someone--we both enjoyed it.
Work this morning, then I'm off to collect my new specs around lunch time, then it is back home for more work. I need to get some things finished off by early next week so bit less MMM going on for a few days. OH is making tea tonight--carrot and kidney bean stew with dumplings.0 -
Morning All - awful night with toothache - its been 'sensitive' for a couple of months & Dentist did know so have had to make emergency appointment for this afternoon. Not looking forward to it as I suspect a root canal will need doing
but it must be done especially as I'm away on holiday at the end of this month. Ah well - look on the bright side, at least its happened before I go and not while I'm away. Dont feel up to doing much at the mo so will potter in the garden as its nice and sunny.
Have a good day all xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Well I was quite busy yesterday. I bought a large pack of minced steak, and cooked it very slowly with 2 tins of chopped tomatoes, red onion and lots of herbs. I was able to make 2 large cottage pies for the freezer and I have enough left to make a pastry pie today. We will eat half today and the rest the following day.(DGD1 is away on a course for 2 days)
I already had the toms, herbs and onions, so just had to buy the minced steak and potatoes and I already had the ingredients for the pastry. The cottage pies will feed the 3 of us, so 6 meals in all, and the pastry pie 4 meals.
With the pie tonight I am cooking little tomatoes from the garden with red onion and garlic and baby new potatoes.
Popped into £land and bought a large salt mill of pink rock salt which should last us a while and a roll of cling film. I have decided to start making bread again. I stopped some time ago because I was eating too much, but I think I have a gluten intolerance so I don't eat much now, but DGD and Himself love fresh bread.
You might gather from this that I am definitely in Autumn mood, perhaps like a little squirrell getting ready for winter:):):)

Running the freezer down ATM so have been able to save a bit on the food shop - although it will change when the freezer is re-stocked in a months time.
We pretty much have most things - well apart from the gold Rolex watch and the family tiara :rotfl: - so we are just tidying up and checking on what we have. Not too much to replace - if anything as we had the big house move last year so allot of stuff got replaced then!
Popped to Homebase this morning and bought some Cuprinol paint stripper and Sadolin wood preserver for the garden bench, bird table and table and chairs. Will do those probably Thursday. That will keep them good for another couple of years. £34.97 spent but it would cost allot more if we had to replace them. Once they have been done, I will get the table and chairs folded down and put in the shed for the winter. The bench has it's own cover and the bird table - well it's in use all year round! Been bugging me that these are the last things to get done, so I can now cross those off my list.
Is it me or is stuff like paint is getting more expensive. It never used to be so!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Finally got round to finish painting the kitchen cupboard made months back and ran out of paint. Drat and double drat. It will have to stay like that when family come down at the weekend. Tuff. I haven't the pennies to spend on more cream paint just yet.
I am about to use up the rest of the white paint that I do have to take the living room from cream to white. It needs a refresh but because the landing ceiling is so high over the spiral staircase it's going to be a brush-cellotaped-to-a-long-thing job. The thought of carefully edging cream to white ceiling has made the decision to just have a white out.
Lovely drying day here and temps seem set to keep up to 17 degrees day time here so might be able to accrue a little bit more credit with the electricity.0
