Sorry you are in the affected area Floss I did wonder.

Boiling water is a bother but better than being sick. 2007 did teach us a lot DS and I can still get an all over wash with two baby wipes. Of course Gloucester ran out of baby wipes. After nearly six weeks we went to my brother's in Bristol for a shower. Took that long for my ex to have the weekend off so we could go when they were home. Best shower I ever had, three days later we got the water back.

firstly Nurse Maggie ((((Hugs)))) I am so sorry to hear that the water situation has impacted on your treatment - that is appalling!! you should have been a priority to let know!

Today has been a quiet day for me - a little mild filing but spoilt myself to an episode of GOT as I got some more gardening trimming done and walked to the bank - despite paying the tax man the OD is not quite as bad as I had expected :j Tomorrow has to be a 'wash down the bathroom prior to painting it' day + finishing filing' but i may find time 2 e-bay as well. I have also informed folk today that I need my loans to them back - if they cough up that will be £130 back! When I loaned it I told them I would need it back in August!! We shall see!

Also spoilt myself to a C!sta coffee and Linzertorte biscuit £3.90 - a terrific extravegance given as my eating and cleaning stuff budget is £10 per week (£5 of that is an organic veg box!). How? Well, I am doing my yearly sort out, and found my 'Wombling Stash'. This is money that I find on the street or down the back of the sofa. I pick it up and keep it in a jar. If I am flush then all of it goes into the bucket that my local shop keeps on its counter for charities (usually the local hospice or a big national appeal). If I am not flush I divide it 50/50 and treat myself - so that is what i did today - the last time I emptied the pot it was £7 something and it all went into the charity pot. My view is that if folk cant be more careful with their money then I can put it to better use

If I won the lottery I would be bored if I did not do anything - my dream has always been to renovate empty buildings in towns (such as the old factories in Northampton - large empty houses in posher areas) into small self contained flats for folk who have no home. There would be rules about behaviour while there and not trashing the place etc. Many folk are homeless through no fault of their own - I came close once with two kids. It is criminal that there are so many empty buildings which are being sat on for profit or just left to crumble - when folks need homes. building new is not necessary (covering our countryside in ugly little rat runs which are the slums of tomorrow - I live in Milton Keynes - the early buildings and estates were nice - the new ones even have front doors that open directly into front rooms - like the houses built down my road in 1857 for the peasants!!!) If a home is not occupied for at least 6 months of each year for 5 consecutive years then it should be requisitioned IMO (exceptions for those in the services etc, obviously!)

Rant over!!! But where are the philanthropists of the past?? All most lottery winners seem do is spend, spend, spend!
    What would others do???
Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!
Life gives us only lessons and gifts - learn the lesson and it becomes a gift.' from the Bohdavista :j

Lyn that's a really good idea. I think I would share my winnings with my family, but more than that I haven't really thought about it apart from the usual "sort out work on my home, get on top of my allotment, spend more time out walking with DH, do some travelling..."

  • Just been up the garden and picked another 2 and a half pounds of blackberries, now in the freezer, He Who Knows has brought home another 1 pound of raspberries, now in the freezer, luckily for me only 1 courgette today, YIPPEE!!! and I've just podded out some more of my left to dry french beans and am up to 1 lb 14 oz of dried beans and still more to go whenn they finish drying on the boiler. Not bad for a freebie I used to chuck away. Bad news?.............he's just driven off to collect another big load of windfall apples from yet another friend and we already have 3 buckets full of them on the table outside. Oh well, I know what I'll be doing until lunchtime today!!! Oh yes, and I picked 5 lbs of runner beans last night too, some of which I've rehomed but about half are in the fridge and I'm going to have to chop and freeze them too,at least we'll have lots of roughage this winter won't we?
