Ok seamstresses, I got the sewing bee book for Xmas but I can't figure out the instructions for naming a casement /waistband. They make no sense.

    Can you help?

:o I confess to not having a clue. Why would anyone be naming it? I thought a casement was part of an old-fashioned window, anyway. This is gonna bother me now, someone who has sight of this book please help out.

I can make a waistband, no probs.

May I come out of lurkdom and join you?

I've always tried to 'make-do and mend' and I love a good declutter:D
But I do find that little areas of the house fill up with things I'm not sure what to do with or feel I dont want to/ or shouldn't part with.

But I've decided enough is enough and have binned and freecycled lots the last couple of weeks.

Also gone through my DDs' wardrobe and had a big cull. There were things that I never put on them, aren't really practical or I just plain don't like. So I ignored the guilt I have about chucking them (as most of the items gone were bought as gifts for them:o)
They now have a nice streamlined wardrobe of clothes I know will be worn and got £6 at cash for clothes place, which has gone towards new body warmers for them. And passed some onto a friend for her DD.
Also retuned some Christmas gifts (clothes) and now have gift cards I can use for their school uniforms. Luckily DD1 is good with her clothes so her uniform gets passed to DD2, so less to buy :D

I've had a big cull of all their toys before and after Christmas.

Next is the loft, where I put stuff I don't know what to do with. I'm surprised the ceiling has't fallen it.
And I need to carry on emptying the shed and throw out some old garden toys.

We also have a couple of debts that need paying off, so need to get those in order and paid off, I'd love another baby, but it'll be harder to convince DH if we have no spare money for one.:o

Off to feed DDs and put more things on freecycle :D
Apologies for such a long post!

:D Lol, I had to turn off the predictive text on my N0kia Hausbrik not-so-dumb phone. Kept trying to predict the darndest things which weren't within a country mile of what I was trying to text. Who programs these things into them, anyway?

I have a KISS approach to technology; what can I buy without too many bells and whistles or, failing that, how many of them can be turned off without affecting the funtioning.

Actually, it's pretty much the same approach I have to sewing; just because I can do something doesn't mean I have to do it. Sometimes the answer is Velcr0, Wundaweb or iron-on Vilene. Or failing those, there are also glue guns and staplers.:rotfl:

I had a box of Turkish delight for Christmas (I don't have a very sweet tooth..but love that stuff!)...it is all gone now, but I have the box left - a lovely bamboo-style round tub...I am thinking of covering the lid with a bit of sticky-back plastic and then saving the box to refill with home-made sweets as a gift later.

I had a box for Christmas too. Love that stuff. The box is great and much too good to throw away so I am going to paint it with left over white emulsion, and trim with pretty paper (or maybe crumpled tissue paper) stuck down and varnished with Modge Podge (dries clear and hard) and HM lace flowers. My GD will love it.

Still chuckling at Good Advice 'dancing with her Dyson.':rotfl::rotfl:

Lots of reading up and not much doing done today by me as my joints are painful today. I have made the ears on my sausage dog pin cushion. :p
Oh and I repairs a tea towel that had a small rip until we rescued it off the washing line. It was almost ripped to shreds one end but some nifty needlework and its spick and span again. :D

meames- why don't you try paraphrasing the instructions so the experienced sewers on here can help you? I do have the first book but not the 'wardrobe' one. Which do you have?

I'm also making a small beginnings or sorting through all those boxes, drawers, corners etc that become the dumping grounds. I'm under no illusions that this will take me until Jan 1st 2016 to fully sort through and deal with once and for all.
I seem to be great at dealing with the recent clutter, its the older stuff that irks me.

One of the biggest bug bears with me are those things that don't belong to me, the wires, plugs, discs, leads, video games and old techies stuff or parts of the former. I never know which to keep or throw. In the end I tuck them away back in a box or bag and forget until the next time I find them.

Decided to go nowhere today as it was so windy. That meant a NSD. :T;):T

    DAY 10
    NSD #5
    Money Spent Today - £0 Vouchers Spent - £0
Money Spent in Total - £25.85 Vouchers Spent in Total - £5
Money left in purse - £4.15 - Float left- £0/£15
    Jan non-foods left- £11.09/£15

I'm hoping for another NSD tomorrow but we shall see.

When I finished this pin cushion, which could be a long job as I'm doing it by hand, I intend to get out my knitting bags (I have 4  ) and undo the unfinished projects. I want to weigh up the different colours and see how they can be used. I have a mind to make a couple of knitted waistcoats to wear with long sleeved tops and trousers.

All the ideas and plans that keep running through my head while I'm mending, so many! I can't stop thinking about chillis and my need for them.
I discovered Chilli Jam last year. WoW!

I must work out whether to buy the plant again or try the seeds. I'm tempted with seeds this time. My plant only has tiny chillis and my garden centre didn't sell named varieties cheaply.

Oh, crikey, you're so right about that. I have three computers of various vintages in my house. (Four if you count the new one in a box as a reserve. :) )

Each one has the original box together with backup discs, software, and other spare bits & bobs.

Now, I'm sure you're all wondering why I have three computers. They date from 1996, 2000 and 2007. I have been forced by broadband & browser specs to update twice.

Microsoft have been very clever in making sure that my old software & hardware won't work on my newer machines. Thus, if I was to try to only run one machine, I would have to buy all new software & hardware.

I don't know where this problem will end.
