Evening all!!
The title (Smug Mode Engage) comes from the TV series Red Dwarf (Sci Fi comedy for those that dont know it!) and is used when the mechaniod gets something right and the humans do not!!
For once Im glad I live in Milton Keynes - I could go to both meet ups/offer a lift to anyone who has the time and money to get near half way - in either direction!! Maybe there are some advantages to living here after all. :rotfl: Would like to help facilitate anyone who needs it. Why? Because, in my past, others :A have helped me with things like lifts and getting to places and I would like to pay the Universe back. So pm me if you can get to MK and want to participate!! ( I am CRB checked and have insurance to carry folk other than friends for my work - happy to provide proof of this! And I appreciate - and am not in the least offended by - other folks caution :-)
Viv!!!!!!!!!!! more deliciousness!! Groan - no weight lost at mo! Started to eat up the Ald! buys from last week with a yummy baked sweet potato with cheese and beans for lunch!! So filppin cheap! Worked out that was lunch for £0.30p and was stuffed until 8pm tonite - when I finally got myself some toast and topped it with sardines for tea!! So definitely Making Do!!
Cheerfulness - well today I rummaged around in my shed and found pots about 4 inches across - will they be big enough for tomatoes - and should I !!!!! out my seedlings into them straight away? on Gardeners World they said to do it when they ve got 2 real leaves, which they have now!! Advice please - also will all purpose compost be OK?
Also mended the back of my sofa which had broken with a plank that I found in the shed - so even did some Mending today! And I ve been Minimising cos I threw out some bits from the back of a kitchen cupboard!! And I suppose cooking me own food = Making!!
So that means I ve hit all 3 today - Make do; Minimise and Mend
Sorry folks - definitely 'Smug Mode Engage!' (well it makes a change from me moaning and worryin on here LOL)
Bless you all for the inspiration. Have a frugal day tomorrow!!Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j

You're entitled to be smug Lyn. Lol
Yep you can get pricking out those seedlings. I've just potted up my toms in similar pots. I've always found them very forgiving when it comes to the size of pot at this stage. Mine are in various sizes this year. I've gsthered tgem up from everywhere seeing as I've gone to town this year on the seed sowing. Such fun!
opps forgot, that compost will be perfect.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

You definitely deserve smug mode tonight Lyn after all you've achieved. Not quite in the same league but I did half the ironing pile and made bolognaise, there's enough left to freeze for two meals for both of us. Didn't quite get round to the knitting but another night. I'm on training tomorrow with lunch provided so hopefully it will be a nice one. Out for tea again tomorrow night but I have a budget and this time I am sticking to itMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 3.6.25 - £107,282.15

janb5 I have pm'd you
Up early this morning as eldest Dd is off to London on a course and wants to use my drive to park.I too live a few minutes away from a station.
Just pottering around today I think, its trying to rain at the moment,
good job I haven't far to go today apart from youngest Dds this afternoon. She is sorting out a 'just giving page for us for the race' you are all very kind.I watched the programme on Sunday and it was so sad that the young lass wasn't one of the fortunate ones who survived. We all live with the knowledge that it can and sometimes does return so I always try to make the most of every extra day i have been given. it will be 8 years next month since I was diagnosed and I do try to keep as positive as possible,no point stressing about things as life is for living, so I do:):)
have a good day chums what ever you are doing
Cheers

Morning All,
Just a quickie until later because I now need to go shopping as I'm not going away.
Have you heard that £15m worth of cocaine was found in bananas destined for Aldi's? you can buy almost anything at supermarkets now, can't you?:D
Well done, Lynn, with your MMMing, keep up the good work. So looking forward to seeing everyone who can make it in June. And thank you for the offer of a lift, Lynn, but as I have to come quite some distance I think I'll have to go straight to London as that way I don't have to change - but it's much appreciated and I hope it will mean that a few more MMMers will be able to come.
Speak soon.

Lyn I am sure I could get myself to MK,will investigate.
Jan put me down as a definite maybe.
I have trouble recieving pm's,but can send them.Something my daughter has put on my laptop blocks them.Still daren't ask her to do anything, disertation handed in yesterday, interview today then exams, treading lightly with her for a few weeks yet.
I am not doing much of anything at the moment.3 of 4 wounds are beautiful 1 isn't,still painful and bleeding. What with the boob scar and all the others on my torso I look like a knife throwers assistant!
We are going to view some houses today, non are suitable really. Not a lot of choice round here.I would like to keep the money in the bank and move to the house we rent out 'till the right house comes up for sale.MrV wants to keep our good tenants because he is self employed and worries that if he has no work we will have no income.I don't want to buy another mistake like this house was.It is keeping me awake at night.
I sold some garden stuff on eeeeeeeeeeebay last night.Bloomin eck there's gold in them there hills with garden stuff.I have listed other furniture now which we will not be taking with us,wherever that is!
Since leaving work last year I have been getting rid of stuff,I cant wait till my belly button heals up so I can get stuck in with ridding some more.Need preoccupied daughter to help me do a car bootsale or 2 as well.Fitting round all her festivals that is!
The loft is full of the kids stuff and Mr V's.The garage and shed full to the roof of MrV's stuff. It is his work stuff so that's another thing we need at a new house, storage.
I am itching to get in the garden and pot some of my plants up to take with us.There was no garden when I moved here and buying plants is so expensive.Never had any luck requesting plants on freeeecycle.
Still not feeling much like eating which is not a bad thing at all. Will have a go at cooking a meal tonight for us,perhaps fish from the freezer.

Morning all!
It is raining hard here...and so cold! Not that I am all that bothered...I am not long out of bed! I am having a really quiet day today...I took meds last night and all but slept the clock round!
I have some odds-and-sods of fruit left over - so am thinking of a nice fruit salad later - I might add a small tin of pineapple chunks and eke it out for two or three portions....serve it with a generous blob of home made joghurt and a sprinkling of toasted coconut....yum!
I also have an busy-but-still-quiet afternoon ahead...I was following a new pattern for knitting handpuppets...I 'suspected' something wasn't quite right but stupidly trusted the pattern! I now have to spend an hour or two undoing yesterday's work! Grrrrrrr! Still, I have spotted the mistake in the pattern (and am guessing it was a typo...why can't people check carefully before printing patterns!!!)
Have a good day folks!0 -
Hi All - just skimming. I'm happy to give another two people a lift for the meet up - not CRB checked but even better - Mrs L has checked me out
Vulpix - would there be any opportunity for you to move to your other house & rent the one you are in now? Maybe a silly question as I don't know the 'background'
DH has set to & cleared the ironing basket. I was up early for a fasting blood test & treated us both to a bacon & brie roll when I got home. Helped out my neighbour (who looks after Pushkin for me) by hemming her DiL dress for a wedding on Friday - hope the wind drops soon!
Off down the garden to talk to the veg & give them some encouragement (along the lines of 'grow you little *****!)
Have a good day allSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
She's OK is that SILVASAVA and very brave, well she survivied meeting us, so that says something!!! Hiya SS that do as a pedigree???0
