Viv, you sound you are growing much the same as me. :D The sweet peas come up really fast, which is just as well as I've discovered they are another of my seedlings that got put out and there is absolutely no sign of even the pots now! Those gale winds were crazy.
So I'll be re-sowing mine again. Good job I bought loads.

My favourite plants I love to grow from seed in a tub in the garden are night-scented stock.I have always had a tub not far from my kitchen window in the garden for many years now. They look like a tub of weeds during the day but the scent on a summers evening is amazing and I only wish you could bottle it.:)
This afternoon I am off to Faversham for an overnight stay with my sis-in-law.We are going out for a meal at a local Italian restaraunt near to where she lives Apparently its very good so I am looking forward to that DD has sent off a letter of complaint to the hotel in question about our rather poor afternoon tea.The best thing about it was sitting with DD for a couple of hours just nattering about all sorts of things. She is a very busy lady as a rule and to get her to just sit and chat and relax was worth the grotty repast we were dished up with :)

All of my washing and ironing is up-to-date and I still have no shopping to buy so my shopping list by the kettle is clear .

Last night I made do with something from the freezer for dinner and used up the last of cauliflower in the fridge. I even finished off mending my nightie with the new trim that I had dug out of my sewing tin,so no cost incurred, and my nightie now will be more comfortable to wear, I hated those lacey scratchy trims around the neck, and have removed it and replaced it with a bit of cotton broderie anglais.

Not much minimising today as I am off out ,but normal service will be resumed on Monday as DGS are back to school and I can get back to my routine again.
Hope you all have a good weekend
    Cheers chums JackieO xxx

I have never posted on this thread but do read it!

For a great chutney recipe have a look at Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's Glutney Chutney recipe.
This is the only recipe I use now and it is so easy. I have used apples, plums, red and green tomatoes, apples, pears.....whatever I have a glut of and in whatever proportions.
I used to skin tomatoes but don't bother now.
I cook it in the slow cooker.....takes a while but I have a better control of the consistency.

Another tip for anyone who is lucky enough to be travelling to France in a car and able to do a bit of a shop. Pop into a supermarket and buy cider vinegar if you use it. So much cheaper than here in the UK.

    Morning money savers
Just having a mug of coffee. I got up to put the washing machine on at 7am. Takes 2 hours, so on the line at 9am.
No plans for the new day as yet!

Not very exciting - 4 lines of washing blowing in the wind. Mine and adult DD.
DD has a flat with no outside space so the wet washing goes out here.

Been on the desktop to do some surveys.

Oh been to the recycle centre with a car load. Yea! love decluttering.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

I read this thread and love the ideas and friendship here.
    It does inspire me to.
I've already put a load of washing on the line and hopefully it'll dry quickly.

I've made plant labels things from a milk carton for the seeds I'll plant when they arrive.
The seeds in the coldframe are appearing and can't wait to plant them out.

I think I've found a copper tray in the new garden we got - I need to clean it and see if it is copper. Not quite sure what I'll do with it but its a pretty shape with fluted edges but slightly battered.
I've also found a couple of leaded windows which I've kept but not sure what to do with as they are small.
I've also found loads of junk - rusted corrugated iron, bits of barbed wire, paint tins, bits of bike, bits of brick, broken glass and random bits of plastic.

I'm try and post at least a couple of times a week and also loving the recipes.

    Morning peeps

I have been feeling very sorry for myself of late as I managed to break a rib last week. The down side is you can't do much let alone breath, but on the plus side you don't spend money:)
The weather hasn't been all that great either so I couldn't even sit in the sunshine.

I was just beginning to wonder if you had taken the boat out silva, hope the weather is good for you and please let us know how you go. Any chance you could post a lovely pic to?

I can't wait to try all the lovely recipes, my tummy was rumbling whilst reading the posts yesterday. I have a list of jobs to do but they will just have to wait.
Hope you all have a lovely day what ever your doing. xx

    Morning all!

I feel rather sluggish today - but have nonetheless managed to drag myself downstairs at 7:30 to snaffle a washing machine and put the bedding on.....all washed now and in the dryer. (We don't have the option of hanging washing on the line here, which is a shame!)....I'll go and collect it in about an hour.

kittym - poor thing!...hope you feel better soon!

I think I'll put the kettle on and have a quiet few minutes with a cuppa.

That`s a very long cycle for a WM. Lovely to get it out in the sunshine. I hate airers being around all over during the winter

Maybe the copper tray would be great with houseplants sitting in it- sounds very pretty. Could the leaded windows be used to make a small cold frame?

    Morning(just) Everyone,

I've been busy making bread for the tribe (two loaves - one isn't enough for eight hungry people), getting the washing done and on the line and have spent the last hour disposing of yet more lumps of chalk out of the garden then this afternoon am going to fill the remainder of my outdoor pots and planters with compost. I'm a little unsure whether to put any more of my seeds in yet - we have sunshine here, but the wind is still pretty cold and strong - any advice, anyone?

Kitty, poor you - how did you manage to break your rib - it's so painful, isn't it? Do hope you begin to feel better soon. and you as well, Prinzess - is it your medication?

Welcome, pws52 and villagelife, great to have more people here.

Well I'm off to have a 'soft' lunch, I'm nursing my tooth until I can get back to the dentists again in 10 days or so. DB, with a bit of luck may be finishing work on Monday and be on the beach, so I don't want to frighten him too badly if he can get over!

Enjoy your day, Everyone, will post something indulgent later.

    Viv xx
