I'm another one making HM soup today. Potato and Leek to use some of my YS leeks. A nice chunky soup will set DH up a treat tonight before he goes off into work for the night.
Finally getting those lettuce sown and some flowers. Also off in the garden while there's no wind to prune my two buddleias or I won't have such a lovely flower display this summer. Plus I need to go chase some flower pots that are running wild in the borders.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

Rainy-Days wrote: »Last Sunday afternoon I sat in the conservatory (it was a beautiful, warm and sunny afternoon up here) and mended two jumpers and a pair of jeans. I had a cup of tea on the go and I thoroughly loved it. First time this year that I had been able to sit out there enjoying the warmth and looking out over the garden.
I wish I had a conservatory. That sounds like such a lovely, relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
I didn't get my shrubs pruned because my knees were complaining after I'd been rounding up all my pots but I did get my lettuces and sweet peas all sown, so I'm pleased with that.
My other things are gently coming along fine.
And my little baby spider plants that I 'made' earlier in the year are getting bigger now. Their little roots are popping out the bottom of their pots now. I love the broad beans seedlings on the far left at the top. Can't wait to sow my cucumber seeds as they are massive leaves when they come up.
I spent a lovely hour watching a film on tv this afternoon and making another duster. I love hemming.

We got some bargain YS Smoked Bacon rashers today and even had an offer link kick in to give us an addition 47p off the YS price. Don't you just love it when that happens. Even so this meant I've had to spend most of my Float balance to offset the slight deficit in my grocery budget for the day.
We got 1x milk @ 88p, 1 x Drinking Chocolate @ £2.48, 4 x YS 8 rasher pk of Smked bacon @ 69p each and 1 x YS 6 pk of eggs @ 45p.

Good Morning everyone ,although its a very grey and grumpy looking day here in north Kent .Dark clouds and very overcast so perhaps spring has put its coat back on for a few days
:):)
This morning I shall be visited by my two gorgeous daughter bless them. One of whom I shall feed scrambled eggs on crackers 9her favourite Sunday Morning breakfast along with copious amounts of fresh coffee. This is her regular Sunday mornig fest and we sit and mull over the previous weeks doings .The youngest will also pop in to see me as its Mothering Sunday so I shall probably only have to serve up numerous cups of tea as she is not a coffee lover.I am going to make a chocolate tray bake before they arive so they can have a wee nibble if they fancy it.
I have a friend coming to lunch on Wednesday and I was thinking about going out to lunch, then changed my mind and decided as I have more than enough salady bits I will do a nice ham salad.
I have some gammon in the freezer which I will cook with a honey coating in the slow cooker with a splash of cola.and on Tuesday I have enough bits and pieces to make a quiche from the stuff in the fridge.with lettuce ,tomato, red pepper cucumber and beetroot it should be a colourful spread:):) I may knock up a lemon merangue pie for pudding if I have time ,but if not I can easily make a fresh friut salad from oranges, apples, bananas and grapes with a dollop of peach and mango yoghurt on top.Everything I already have in stock so that will save a few bob from going put to the restraunt
:)
Eldest DD texted me to say she has booked up afternoon tea at Larkfield Priory for the middle of April (it was one of my birthday present back in February so I'm looking forward to that.
Right time I got a wriggle on and did some quick whooshing around with the vacuum
Have a great day what ever you are doing

Morning all:
Another grey day here today, however that won't stop me from that mountain of ironing I have accumulated from somewhere. )
Many thanks for the ideas with the smoothies I'm going to make up some ice cream and then try the red grits pudding that you suggested prinzessilein.
Apart from the ironing I am planning a lazy day with a good book and feet up as I have a busy day tomorrow. Benji (my putty tat) is off to the vets in the a.m. He will be in the huff for days as he's having the snip. We can't have him adding to the overflowing kitten population and our animal shelters are bursting at the seams.
After he's dropped off I then have to go and face the masses on the food shop run. ( I hate food shopping:eek::eek::eek::eek:) then you have to put it all away, then bck to get DD from school and then onto pick up Benji.
Well that's enough moaning from me. Hope you all have a lovely day whatever your to. xx0 -
Morning all
Hubby has been in the garden, tomato plants are huge, we also have chillis, cabbage, cucumbers & carrots sprouting, we will be picking & eating the last of the sprouts today with roast stuffed breast of lamb.
I'm making lemon curd & a banana loaf later & then some more sewing.

5. An old-skool needle book is really handy for keeping a variety of sizes of needles together. The pages are best made from something loosely-woven like an old blanket, with the edge pinked. Take 4 or 5 rectangles of blanket, and one slightly larger rectangle of felt. Put them together - the size should be approx 3 inches wide by 4 tall, and cut it so that the rectangles fold like a book, with the felt on the outside. Add a few stitches to make the 'spine' and you have a needle-book. It's best to blanket-stitch the edges of the felt to keep it together. I made mine in the 1980s and it's still lookin' good.
