Evening all what a lovely thread - just wondered if peeps had seen this site
http://www.videojug.com/
It is good for small jobs and how to do ideas - think it was a forerunner to utube and includes lots of tips and advice some are quite funny too.
Lovely cardigan Cheerful and well done on your win, tops.
Soworried - would love to see a pic of your cloth bag, have never made one but could be inspired.January 2020 Grocery challenge £119.45/£200

Mrscheshire this is it.
Found the image on Dave's Garden and it calls it a Jerusalum cherry or a winter cherry.
Poundstretcher can be really good for seeds too in the sale. My Morning Glories put on a lovely display the year before last. Didn't get round to sowing those last year with our move.
Soworried - we have masses to learn too. I'm learning my way around youtube to learn so many different things from how to make lovely old fashioned Cornish pasties to crochet and doing a home manicure!
Be careful with using youtube to learn to cut hair. Seemed a good idea when I was holding the tablet showing the video while DH chopped away. Good job hair grows. Messy up do till then.
Oh goodness, the Allotment Shows begun on BBC2. Here we go for the start of 'the season.' :TMAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

fairy- I've bookmarked that site. Thank you.
Didn't think about the potential for green points with the cloth bags. I never think to add those when I go through the self-tills at Tescos. My Owl cloth bag from them is going strong but my flowery George one is a bit manky now.
Looks like I might be adding that to my list. No need to be scruffy just because you make do and mend. I'll take the pattern from it and try and remake with some fabric when I come across the right thing.
Oh this programme is making me long to get compost between my fingers again. Nearly time!MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

Can I join in please? My main problem will be that I can't sew or knit and we are useless at most household DIY
I'd love to be able to make some of the things we need. I have a friend that is going to teach me how to make cloth shopping bags first, this will help me earn extra green points.
I'd like to learn how to replace the seal around the shower as well instead of paying someone to do it.
If you need to replace the silicone sealant around the shower you tube how to do it. There's a woman on there that shows how. I followed her instructions and its,easy.0 -
I'll join, I'm an okayish crocheter and a basic sewer but a good cook. I'll be on maternity leave in July so it'll be pretty much just the OH salary so upping the OS will be necessary.
Does anyone here use approved food and is it any good?0 -
Approved food is very good but you have to keep checking to see if there is stuff you will use.
So far today have cut down a pair of Cs curtains for OH's room, fake velvet with thermal lining £3 ( brand new ) cut out a cover for Dgs's fvourite floor cushion ( fabric off a friend) and hubby has stripped down the top of my footstool to recover it and sanded it down to clean it up. I found a cushion mum gave me with wodge of stuffing in which I can seperate to pad the top of the stool.
My favourite tools that I cannot live without are an electric screwdriver, a glue gun and of course a staple gun. Always hide your best scissors so hubbys and kids dont cut paper with them.Clearing the junk to travel light

Soworried and any other potential bag makers, there's a good video on http://www.morsbags.com/make-a-morsbag/ on how to make a simple one.

Odd things you find in the street isn't it I found one of those plugs that you can use to adapt a lead for either my phone or Ipad or Kindle ,it has a wide bit at the bottom where you plug what ever lead you want in.I brought it home and it works perfectly They cost a few bob on the amozon site so I was a happy bunny. Also found is small change 18p which went into my tiny holiday tin for my DGS ice creams when we are on holiday. Have over £4.00 in there in spare 'road kill' found loose change.Folk seem to throw coppers away !!! even 5ps get chucked away.
Had a scratched together salady dinner tonight from left over bits from New Year, very tasty it was as well.tomorrow I shall be making a vat of leek and potato soup as I have four bendy leeks that need using up and plenty of spuds:):)
When at DDs decorating this afternoon we used some of the cloths that I made from an old sheet I cut up last year and hemmed by hand Came in handy and they will get all thrown into the washing machine in a knotted pillowcase when I put my next wash on.I even used a bit of the material to line the inside of the knitted cover that I made for my Ipod. I really do reuse and recycle if I can:):)
