Painting metal front door

Hi all,
My front door is wood but is metal on the outside. Two people have told me it couldn't possibly be but it definitely is, lol. I have bought primer and black paint, both suitable for exterior metal.

I have lightly sanded it and in some places the metal can be seen. I was wondering if it is best to get all of the old paint off or can I just paint over it as it is. It is quite smooth and there a no flaky bits.

Just paint it as it is.

You will also need an undercoat. Primer first, 2 coats of undercoat and then a coat of gloss.

Hi, we have a door like this. We cleaned and sanded it lightly then painted with Hammerite paint. We did two coats. You can see some brush marks in places but generally it looks very good.

Thanks, I'm going to give it a go.

It's really cold today so will do it when it warms up a bit.

My house is for sale so hopefully it will achieve a bit of kerb appeal.
