Could a few post pictures of your chicken coups and runs please? Just looking at inspiration for mine! i have done mine but my homemade chicken coup is way too big for them and they look lost and lonely bless them- plus im not going to lie....more to clean up! ive posted a swap for a smaller one on a local board for someone who has more chickens or want to get more.
Im finding the floor area a problem, its such a huge floor space..2m by 2m square. i put a water proof linning on floor to make it more easier to clean out but it hasnt i cant really put sawdust on it as will be loads and wudnt have anywhere to place it after i clean it out eveyweek iyswim.
Before i change it over and convert it would love to see some pictures0 -
I have a converted greenhouse...Pic below. Gives me indoor and outdoor run for them. Instead of using sawdust, you could try Aubiose as it composts faster and you use a lot less of it. It's a horse bedding. How many chooks do you have???'' A man who defends himself, has a fool for a client''0

Thanks for pic, i have 6 chickens. im also concerned to what to use on floor on run as very muddy at minute?
Doesn't it get hot for them in summer- being a greenhouse? Great conversion0 -
I would if I could but it appears I can't.
We have 6 in a converted garden shed - we have a droppings board under their perches to mke life easier.0 -
There's no glass in the greenhouse, its all mesh! They have a night roosting perch with nest boxes at the rear, a day run if we are out and a sheltered area underneath should it rain. They also have the whole paddock to scrat in during the day. They share the outdoor space with ducks and geese but seems to be all happyness!!'' A man who defends himself, has a fool for a client''0

Oh yes i can see the mesh now!
With the boards underneath the perches- mine do it everywhere lol they also perch on the nesting boxes and poo in there!
Someone said to keep the run and use to high raised large rabbit hutches x2 as they like to be huddled togeather at night and fill with straw?0 -
Mine seem to poo the most when they're roosting so the droppings board gets most of it. There's a bit on the shed floor, and occasionally some in the nest box but not much. I think the one at the bottom of the pecking order sneaks into the nest box on her own some nights and snuggles in the straw.
Genrally they all scootch up together on the perches - you can tell by where the heaps of poo are in the morning:)0 -
i'll post mine tomorrow if i remember to take a pic. if not, then thurs0
